Date: 5/11/2002 6:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 49885    i have no clue...just like tell them to watch a video on it and let them see how much it ruins their health!!
Date: 5/11/2002 6:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 27583    just talk to the child as a person and discuss all the facts with them. to punish a child sometimes backfires and the child will make a joke out of it with thier friends. if calmly talked to with the common ground rules of the home an understanding might be achieved.
Date: 5/11/2002 6:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 25828    make them smoke a cigar all the way through..they will probably puke - i snuck one of my granddad's cigars when i was really young..about 8 - and i threw up for the rest of the day...i NEVER wanted to smoke again.
Date: 5/11/2002 6:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 53482    I would write to the tobacco companys and get brochures on smoking and let them read it.Good luck with it.
Date: 5/11/2002 6:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    Heather, I just smoked a cigar like a MONTH ago and I threw up. LOL and I'm 15!
Date: 5/11/2002 6:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    Heather says something that I have heard so many times from those who never took up smoking. Many have told me a similar story. Sit the kid down outside somewhere or in the garage, and insist he smoke one cig right after the other, don't let him take a break inbetween, let him cough his head off, wrinkle up your nose, and say how much he stinks, wave your arms around, fanning the smoke like crazy....and stand your ground. Make him make himself SICK..he'll get the message loud and clear.
Date: 5/11/2002 6:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 33925    Oh what Heather said!! I remember when my Brother was caught smoking..My Mom made him smoke about 5 of those little colt cigars...We watched through the window as he turned every colour of the rainbow before he started puking!! LOL..xoxo
Date: 5/11/2002 6:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 25828    LOL rika now i think i associate all smoking with being sick cause a cigarette makes me ill 8-)
Date: 5/11/2002 6:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    assist them in quitting cause you cant punish a kid for smokeing grounding them wont work they'll just smoke at school
Date: 5/11/2002 7:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 30986    Um..when my daddy caught me smoking when I was little he made me EAT some cigarettes.. I puked my guts out, but now I smoke two packs a day, so that DOESN'T work, LOL!
Date: 5/11/2002 7:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 7341    Heehee....with my job, I can give them smoking tickets!!!! But if it were my kid, I would make them watch documentaries of what smoking does, and I would make them take a smoking cessation class.
Date: 5/11/2002 7:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 33925    LMAO!! Kysta now that you mention it..My Brother smoked right up til a year ago!!! LOLOL..Oh and I never touched a cigarette in my life til I was 17..and I smoke even now...xoxo
Date: 5/11/2002 7:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 53649    Cut off their lips.Person whose handle is a symbol that is not on his keyboard
Date: 5/11/2002 7:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    My dad made us chain smoke til we puked, but I don't choose to follow my parents guidelines. Don't give your child allowance until they quit and if you find a pack, snap them and flush them. Better to have an angry kid than a smelly one, LOL Space Case76 smoker by choice
Date: 5/11/2002 7:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 53659    i agree with the thinker
Date: 5/11/2002 8:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 51871    Seriously, lock them up, scream at them. do whatever, but wishy-washy rational, its your health, methods DONT work lol. Im not joking.
Date: 5/11/2002 8:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 48128    Make them smoke all the ciggerets they have that will get them sick!
Date: 5/11/2002 8:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 48993    i would take EVERYTHING away from that child ....... phone , computer , cds , stereos , tv , EVERYTHING!!!! this is when it starts!!!! i started when i was 14 now i am 28 and trying like heck to quit.... and it HURTS!! my whole body is aching !! i would also ground my kid as well as take everything away , and i dont know for how long .... but at least a MONTH! maybe more!! this is just as serious as a child doing drugs like pot ect and drinking !!!!!(imo)
Date: 5/11/2002 8:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    Well I would not make them smoke a whole pack one right after another that would be very dangerous in my opinion and lead to high levels of toxins in the body...I would however tell them how you feel about smoking and make it clear it is not acceptable and from there you can either ground them, take away priviliges etc. but there is nothing you can really do to make tehm stop they have to want to and if tehy do not then they will just sneak off and do it behind your back. luv_4_2pac
Date: 5/11/2002 10:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    I wouldn't punish them at all. People (even kids) can make their own decisions about some things. Smoking is not the worst thing in the world. If you punish them by making them smoke more it will make them sick for awhile, but I don't really think it will deter them forever. They will just find more creative ways to hide it. Most of the time kids smoke out of rebellion, but if there is nothing to rebel against then eventually they will stop. If not, oh well. Smoking isn't a good thing, but when authoritative figures keep shoving anti-smoking propaganda down your throat what else are you supposed to do? I'm allergic to smoke, but when ever I see people discouraging others not to smoke it makes me want to light up myself.
Date: 5/11/2002 10:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    Or as some parents do ground the kids, tell them smoking is the devil; then while they aren't looking take the smokes for themselves. LOL
Date: 5/11/2002 11:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 7089    first off-- & no offense meant, as this likely doesn't apply to you --make sure you're not a hypocrite...my mom smoked, my sister smoked, but when i started at 14 i got dirty looks, lectures, even threats of bodily harm from my sister, hehehe...didn't matter 'cause i did it anyway-- bummed from ppl/snuck around/stole others' when i didn't have my own --but had they not been doing it too it might've made me less determined to prove that i was as well, tho it wouldn'a made me stop, but that's all water under the bridge now...actually if you want a kid to get sick, make 'em smoke menthols-- i liked the taste of one so much as a kid-- i was younger than 14 --that i smoked almost a whole pack...needless to say just the thought of doing so makes me green, but unfortunately menthols are only menthols. cheers,
Date: 5/12/2002 1:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 22080    tugger is right alot of people i know smoke menthols and they like the taste of them but they like cant smoke more than 3 within a 2 hour period quite funny actually
Date: 5/12/2002 7:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 52358    well my grandad died from lung cancer so i am very scared about my kids smoking,,but right now they are too young,,ive heard of making them smoke a whole pack or eat the pack**chic_unv**
Date: 5/12/2002 1:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 19345    well I found out recently my two teens were, they keep it a real good secret. I was so angry as my entire family has died of lung related disease and cancer, I myself had surgery for cancer last year. I guess the only thing I could really do was to let them know I nolonger trusted them as they decived me for so long I didn't know what else they lied about. So after all the lectures which by the way do no good, I just told them that I was not going to support their habit, nor would I be around them if they smoked. That was a few months ago and they have both been trying to quit. Its an addiction so I know it isn't easy, I think they are finding out on their own how expensive and stupid it was to start I only hope they stop on their own.
Date: 5/12/2002 2:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 52140    I am only 15 and don't plan on having babies for about...10 years. But if/when I have kids, if I catch any of em smoking, I will first make them smoke an entire pack, then whip them, and ground them for a long time. It may sound cruel but its called tough love.

Date: 5/12/2002 5:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 47696    I hate stuff like smoking it hurts my lungs. Its
already bad enough that we have pollution. But
children caught smoking should have a punishment fit
for there offense. You should not over react. And
remember there are things such as peer preasure
not just for children but for adults too. Make them
quit and tell them the risks. If that does not help
then seek a a pro.

Date: 5/12/2002 9:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    i think what makes kids goto drugs is not allowing it ever noticed how the more strict the parents are the more the kids are screwed up odd isnt it anywho they probably start out cause they want to know why its so bad then they get a nicotine rush from it and keep going back for the rush then get addicted for trying to always get that rush and eventually lose the rush
Date: 5/13/2002 1:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 30477    I would introduce a malignant tumor to the kid's left lung and emphazima to the right. That'll teach the little brat to smoke.
Date: 5/23/2002 6:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 32133    let them die when there 30......
Date: 8/27/2002 1:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 16376    I would make them quit somehow...
