Reaching Out **Frankenstein

We have been making the best effort we are capable of at this facility for decades now to analalyze the sounds of space. Some of our receptions have been quite impressive such as the waves we picked up a few years ago of what appeared to be a sun going super nova. The event itself must have occurred millions of years ago and many, many light years away according to our calculations but we were finally made aware of it's happening. The thing which has been most instrumental in leading us to the conclusion that there are other intelligent forms of life in the universe is the fact that we have actually received visual images of humanoid creatures interacting with each other. Although they seem a bit primitive in some ways, they obviously possess a fair amount of intelligence. Otherwise, we would still be unaware of their existance. I have studied our records for many hours and I have drawn the conclusion that the transmissions are the result of one of three things. Either these creatures broadcast these events solely for their own purposes, they were trying to communicate with other species such as ourselves or they actually exist on a level other than the physical and what we see is the remnants of their previous existance. Whatever the case, it would have to be records of the past since we received it from such a vast distance. Our receivers are tuned to disregard anything from nearby sources. Whatever the case may be, I find it all to be fascinating.

We received a strange series of sounds just three days ago and as sophisticated as our equipment is, we are yet to be able to decipher their entire meaning. Our system took the information in and broke it down into a series of numerals and symbols and then we were able to break it down even further and translate the code into words. There was what appeared to be a detailed stellar map and then the message. Rather than spoken words, it appears to be a simple text. The first portion seems to make perfect sense. "Greetings. We are a peaceful race and we mean no species any harm." That is comforting to know. It continues, "This message is our attempt to reach out to others who may share the same questions we have and have had since time immemorial." Again, the meaning seems quite clear. It goes on, "To any who receive this transmission, we extend our hand in peace and friendship." So far, the intent seems obvious. After that, however, there is a jumble which makes no sense no matter how we reconfigure it. We still have been unable to determine it's meaning but we are working on it diligently around the clock. It just doesn't make any kind of sense at all but the closest we have been able to come is, " 2002/5/11...president george w bush...the united states of america....earth."
