Well, my mom is CONSTANTLY dieting on and off. She says that the only way to get over it is to work through it. She stays on her plateau for at least 2 weeks. I guess the hardest part is not to get discouraged if you don't see the results immediately. Good Luck. ~Charisma K.~ |

I'm kind of at a fitness plateau myself right now. Every day I walk on the treadmill at least two miles. At first I lost a few pounds and now I've seemed to stop losing. Now the only thing it seems to be doing is developing my leg muscles. |

The best way that I know of is to SHOCK the body. What I mean by this is that you have to conduct excersise that you are not used to... If you are consistently sticking to one specific program the body adapts and calls it normal and maintains what you have!!! So what needs to be done is change your program up to work ulternate muscles and utilize alternate cardiorespitory excercises which by the way are the best method for weight loss... My recomendation if you have never done it is to "road march" this is simply placing excess weight on your back in a back pack and then walking at a high rate of speed you should be able to work up to 60-140lbs. depending on body weight and march for 18 miles at a 15min. mile pace... I stress work up to!!! If its your first time start with + or - 30 lbs. and walk for 6 miles at a pace that is comfortable... Take care and good luck... |

you gotta change your routine. Many people get into a routine where they feel comfortable, but then their body adapts to it and they stop losing weight. so you have to try something different-- f.i., if you do one machine at the gym all the time, maybe you should try something new, like an aerobic class, or swimming. |
