The Holy Scriptures foretells of what will occur during the last days prior to the second coming of Christ. We are now living in a time such as the world has never seen. People are afraid to go out and many others are carrying pistols for protection. If someone thinks you are looking at them in the wrong way they are ready to seriously hurt or kill you. It doesn't take much to set some people off because of their violent and paranoid nature. Many people do not have respect for their fellow man and are out to get as much as they can no matter what it takes and who gets hurt in the process.
"For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." Matt.24:21-22.
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
Are we not witnessing many people who are self-centered, jealous, and want what you have and in many cases will scheme to get what you have? Do we not see many people who brag a lot, are very arrogant, blaspheme the Lord and His written word, are very disrespectful to their own parents, take everything for granted and are ungrateful? Many people do not keep their word or promise while others are quick to presume on you and will falsely accuse you of things you haven't said or done. Many people are prone to violence or are violent and are very unpleasant to be around because of their violent and unpredictable nature. Those who strive to be decent and live decent lives are often made fun of, jeered and scoffed at, ridiculed, teased, harassed, and rejected.
People who you think are your friends aren't really your friends and at the same time these so-called friends will use you and scheme behind your back. Some people think in their mind the world owes them and yet no one can tell them anything because they think they know it all and will look down on you because they think they are better than you are. There are others who put pleasures first even before their own families and will do just about anything to fulfill their pleasures and could care less about the Lord or anyone else as long as their passions are satisfied and do not care about anything else. Many profess to be godly or appear to be godly but deny the power of the Lord and these are an example who have led many into error and have turned many against the word of God because of their actions and influence. People of such character should be avoided. Think of them as the Pharisees of old during Christ's time here on Earth. We are now living in a time that many people are so evil and cruel that the love of many has simply waxed cold.
"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." Matt.24:12.
Fearful will be the results to those who willfully reject the Lord and are not under His constant watch care for it is plainly written:"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 2 Thessalonians 2:11. Can you imagine yourself being so deluded that you will actually believe a lie? Someone can literally lie to you and although you know they are lying you will actually believe them. Just about everyone is in a hurry and are afraid of anything that moves and no wonder it is written:
"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken." Luke 21:25-26.
Jesus has plainly foretold what shall come to pass regarding these last days and as a result of these things happening many people are afraid and don't really know why they are afraid. Many people have become so paranoid that oftentimes it is dangerous to greet and speak to someone unless they know you and are in a good mood. Many people are murderously inclined who will take your life in an instant without having any regard for the consequences of their actions and will readily admit that they did it because they felt like it or they had a bad day. Are these the words of a rational and sane person? Awesome and terrible are the results to those who have rejected the Lord and are not under His constant protection. Those who are saved and believe in the Lord are the ones who will be kept from the terrible delusions that the Lord will permit Satan to wield upon the rest of mankind as well as other calamities soon to be visited upon this Earth. Do you want to take the high road or the low road? The choice is yours.
