This week VH1 is airing a show that countsdown the 100 best One hit wonders of all time. I just went to their website to see the results. Macarena gets number one? Excuse me while I puke lol. Anyway I was curious what you guys thought should have been on the list. What would you have voted number 1? Myself, hmmm probably A-HA "Take on Me". But then again I am hopelessly stuck in the eighties as far as music is concerned.

Date: 5/7/2002 10:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 46530    sorry, A-ha had about three number ones and several albums (my sister still has them all), but maybe that was just in the UK. We have loads of wierd and wonderful one-hit-wonders here. Anyone remember the Mr Blobby no.1 for christmas???
Date: 5/7/2002 10:50:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28660    Yes! Thats a good one. Was that group Simple Minds? I think it was.

Date: 5/7/2002 10:53:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28660    I think that must've been just in the UK because they made the VH1 list at like number eight.
Date: 5/7/2002 10:55:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28660    Berlins "Take My Breath Away" didn't even make the list. I thought that was weird.
Date: 5/7/2002 10:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 46530    Well, you yanks have it wrong yet again LOL. We had three albums from A-ha and morten haakett is still going in europe. Simple minds are still selling here too, they had multiple albums and chart singles here
Date: 5/7/2002 10:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 46530    Is T'Pau "China in your hand" make it in?
Date: 5/7/2002 10:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 5940    How about "My Sharona" by The Knack?
Date: 5/7/2002 10:59:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28660    No don't think so Farleys.
Date: 5/7/2002 11:02:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28660    Yep thats a good one too Hey Larry.
Date: 5/7/2002 11:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 24963    Macarena #1?? In what parallel universe? LMBO! How in the world did "who let the dogs out" make it so high on that list?? mind boggling! lol There are alot of really good ones that are far down the list that should be closer to the top! Theres a good one hit wonder that didn't make the list that I really like, anyone remember "toy soliers" by martika? hehehe
Date: 5/7/2002 11:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 38278    The Macarena sucked. The Lou Bega song "Mambo #5" was great though.
Date: 5/7/2002 11:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 30747    Katera I remember "toy soldiers" real well. How about "you light up my life" by Debbie Boone. For years you couldn't go any where without hearing that one.
Date: 5/7/2002 11:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 44850    well, to clear up something real quick, that list did acknowledge the fact that ah-a ejoyed international success, that list . . . though, is the worst. list. ever. *sigh* they have people on that list that were either groundbreaking, still doing music, or had sold millions of other albums (other than one they mention) . . .
Date: 5/7/2002 12:09:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28660    Yeah Toy Soldiers should've made the list too.
Date: 5/7/2002 12:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 42259    Hmm..I'd need to think about it but definitely NOT macarena!
Date: 5/7/2002 12:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 20575    Heh, A'Ha had another hit, Actually, maybe it wasn't a hit, but I, myself, was familiar with the song... (Hunting High & Low). Macarena was pretty well deserved in the number one position, though, I must agree.
Date: 5/7/2002 12:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 27046    There are artists on there that have more than one song...like twisted sister....but they are labelling artists like that as one hit wonders because they blew out with those songs and then the second, third or however many albums didn't even come close to comparing to the first one let alone having another song that compared to the one that they are famously known for. I know a lot of A-ha's songs....but Take on Me is the one that people remember, and probably 9 out of 10 times if you said hey remember A-ha people say who? but when you say the song or sing it they go OOOOOOH yeah I remember them! Name another song they did and sing it and most people would have no clue....I don't know what one hit wonder I would have voted number 1.......
Date: 5/7/2002 1:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    crazy town..butterfly lol
Date: 5/7/2002 1:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    barbie girl was done in 1987!?!?
Date: 5/7/2002 4:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 10245    Farley's dead on about Simple Minds (need proof?http://hallmusic.com/artist/simple_minds.htm LOL) they don't compile "best of" albums for one hit wonders. Same goes for Berlin... Maybe they didn't get a lot of airtime, but sales were huge! I agree that Martika should have made the list with Toy Soldier (I actually bought that album, Toy Soldier was the only song that my ears could stand to hear! LOL)
