But my mother most of the time is confused and doesn't know what she is talking about, because she thought it had the same meaning as a peasant??? I really don't get her at all. |

I've never met anyone that was Pagan, but I am sorry that people treat you differently. That's just plain crazy!!!! Love, |
Date: 5/2/2002 6:39:00 PM From Authorid: 15070 Pagan meant "peasant", and was a term the invading armies used when they invaded Europe & parts of the UK. It was a rural dweller, and became a bad word when it became associated with Witches, Devil Worshippers, Druids, and basically anyone the church wanted erradicated. It really means, anyone who is "Not Jewish, Christian, or Muslim". So, by definition, a Buddist, Taoist, or Native American is Pagan. Food for thought. |
Date: 5/2/2002 7:23:00 PM From Authorid: 15675 actually I read pagan meant 'country dweller' because when christianity came through the people in the country were mostly still pagans. They jump cuz they've been brainwashed through the years. No offense. |
Date: 5/2/2002 7:43:00 PM From Authorid: 18155 Seems human nature that people hate what they don't or aren't willing to try and understand. Does the word Inquisition ring a bell with you? |

ok,i'm a wiccan for three years now, wich is the same belief as paganism. anyways, here's wot i have to say: i think that ppl tend to think that we witches are bad, because we do witchcraft.i mean, if u say ur a witch, the only thing that comes up in ppls mind is witchcraft. they're like thinking u worship the devil by doing rituals, wich is absolutely not true, coz real witches do not wanna know about the devil, or worshipping him.sure there are witches who do bad spells, but they know and they will get the power of three back at them. being a pagan or a wiccan means u are one with the nature, animals, life and especially being one with yourself. Real witches do spells for celebrating the sabbats, they also do it for them selfs, for example meditating and much more, they do not put pells on someone else, if they don't want that (against there will) christian ppl tend to think that the pentagram is an evil symbol, wich is not true, the pentagram wa actually symbolized as the "five wounds of jesus" way back in the days. basicly, if a witch cast evil spells, they are not wiccans and pagans, coz that's not the belief. ok well, that was all i wanted to say, plz correct me if i'm wrong... ~Blessed Be~ |
Date: 5/13/2002 7:22:00 PM From Authorid: 54181 you do make a good point. i myself am not pagan. i am actually a christian, however i DO realize, unfortunately not like most christians, that it IS against God's law to judge someone. henceforth, from what i have come to understand that in medieval times if you lived quite some distance away from any church or congregation, and did not worship God, then you were considered a "pagan" and it was, in that time, assumed that you worship the devil. this theory has seemed to have carried on since that time, even in today's society. ~chalupa~ |
Date: 6/24/2002 7:50:00 PM From Authorid: 55903 ok, I agree with a lot of what you people are saying. But, the Pentacle, or pentagram, represents, with the 5 pointed star, the elements of Air, Fire, Water, Earth, and Spirit. And remember, all Wiccans are Pagans, but not all Pagans are Wiccans. |
Date: 6/25/2002 8:32:00 AM From Authorid: 53893 the pentacle has many meanings, but for pagans/wiccans it represents the 5 elements |
Date: 6/26/2002 5:42:00 PM From Authorid: 36965 Think about before the time you knew what a Pagan was. When you heard the word "witch" did you not stereotype? Did you not jump? It's because the word Pagan has NOT been explored..and to bring something up humands hear little of it to scare them---humans are intimidated about what they do not know. Good post~blessed be, xoxo |
