USM relationships???

I just read a post stating that someone on USM just started a new USM relationship. First of all, I want to say, "Congratulations! Good for you!" However, I was really confused by this post. Do a lot of people have USM relationships (i.e. spouses, girlfriends, boyfriends)? I am fairly new to USM, and I have never heard of that before. If one has a USM bf/gf, is it serious? What I mean by serious is...Is it official? Does anyone have a USM bf/gf AND a "real life" bf/gf? I am not saying that a USM relationship cannot be considered a real relationship...I am just using "real life" for lack of a better term. I am just curious how "USM relationships" work... ~Charisma K.~

Date: 5/1/2002 7:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 3688    well i met my husband here....we'd had a "USM relationship" that progressed into IM messages....phone calls....letters and being together in "real life" before we decided to get married i do think sometimes it's done all in fun....but sometimes it's very serious depending on the people involved
Date: 5/1/2002 7:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 24003    Some of them are serious and some are just for fun. There are a few couples on here that actually met here and got married, or are planning to get married. There are also some that are just for fun.
Date: 5/1/2002 7:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 41127    its just you find someone on usm.....you talk and stuff and you can start "loving eachother" but you can still date ppl in life.....and its only for this site.....not the hole internet itself, so its like normal boyfriend girlfriend sorta thing
Date: 5/1/2002 7:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 34775    Well, I met my boyfriend on USM...I just flew halfway across the US to meet him and we are very committed to each other...wherever we are...USM or anywhere else...there are several people here that have met here and married, or fallen in love...
Date: 5/1/2002 7:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 27924    It depends on the person...some people are serious but some people it's all in good fun...just depends how you feel about it! ~Lotta luv~

He is my USM hubby, best friend, and future "whatever we both agree to become"...We talk on the phone, IM, write, join in spirit, and dream together. It's kind of harder to get to each other since we live across the ocean away...
Date: 5/1/2002 9:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 16916    I dont have a USM relationship, well I have lots of friendships but I would never develop a USM Boyfriend Girlfriend thing for fear of breaking up and not wanting to come to USM. I dont want something like that to get in the way of my USM life If someone else wants to do it, theres nothing wrong with it, but all im interested in here is friendship *Huge Chocolate Kissies*
Date: 5/1/2002 9:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    aw sorry anabel...*hangs head* Dj can ya ever forgive me!?!? lol Two years thunderhead!?!? lol dang danny and I were happy with the 'knowing' each other for a year and a half LOL hmmm yeah

Date: 5/1/2002 10:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 21867    The 'genuineness' of any relationship, whether it start online or in real life, really comes down to how each of the parties feel, what they want and how they choose to define it. As my honey Thunderhead has said up there ^^^ her and I have known eachother for almost two years now. My love for her and commitment to her is very real indeed...for in my heart/mind/soul there is only her. There are a number of USM couples whose relationship may have began in that twinkling cyberspace...but they have become real-life partners and have even married. Love finds a way... Peace,
Date: 5/2/2002 12:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 30229    Well, I think that my thoughts on this are a little different than others.. I believe USM IS real life... each one of us are a human being sitting at our homes, and on our keyboards, telling all of you out in cyber-land all about our lives in the world. USM is REAL to me, the friendships I have forged here are REAL to me.. And the FEELINGS are just as real as if they were sitting in my living room with me. The bad side of it is if someone hurts, we cant give them physical hugggggs.....
Date: 5/2/2002 3:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 46486    I don't have a USM boyfriend.. I am engaged to someone and I don't want to commit to myself to another person, especially on the Internet. If Vampyer Gerbil ever went with someone on USM I would be hurt big time. Because he's mine.
Date: 5/2/2002 4:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 33925    IRL I am married to a wonderful man! Here at USM I am also married to a wonderful man..LOL..King Caspian is my USM hubby, but it is just for fun..its not the real deal..xoxo
Date: 5/2/2002 4:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 1631    I try to stay out of that loop...
