LUDICROUS CONSPIRACY THEORIES Run Amok on the Net

  Author:  24924  Category:(Conspiracy) Created:(4/30/2002 7:02:00 PM)

Just because you don't think you have a mind-control chip in your brain doesn't necessarily mean that at this precise moment 10 white men aren't seated at a round table in an ice palace 500 miles beneath the Arctic Circle controlling your every thought. I mean, they COULD be.

And George W. Bush could have orchestrated the events of Sept. 11. And an American man jailed in Canada, ostensibly on credit-card fraud charges, could really be a former intelligence officer who warned jail guards last August of the planned "terrorist" attacks. And Osama bin Laden could have met with a CIA official in a Dubai hospital while being treated for kidney disease.

And Elvis is Alive. Actually he is one of the 10 white men at the arctic table. Excepting the part about Elvis, this is just a handful of the MANY conspiracy theories circulating out yonder. One couldn't begin to list them all, much less address their basis in fact. There is something for everyone out there and, unfortunately, some politicians who've gotten enough attention lately are contributing to their longevity for reasons that escape logic.

Is there any truth to any of it? Dozens of websites offer a smorgasbord of news snippets and individual conjecture to make a case for Bush's collusion in the Sept. 11 attacks or at least in covering up the r e a l perpetrators. One theory includes a timeline that supposedly "proves" that the U.S. goverment knew of the attacks but did nothing. Another suggests that the hijacked planes were flown by remote control, possibly by a nation such as Saudi Arabia.

Two thoughts: Americans have too much time on their hands; the internet is the new asylum. The question that burns---second only to "Why do they hate us?"---is "Why are so many Americans willing to believe such irrational conspiracy theories?"

Social psychologists who study such phenomena offer this profile of the people who create and embrace conspiracy theories: They tend to feel marginalized, fearful and helpless. After perusing many of these sites, I offer another characteristic---bored. It's pure entertainment to participate in conspiracy theories, gathering with like-minded e-pals trying to fit puzzle pieces together.

I'm not going to try to refute each peice of conspiracy-theory "evidence"---it is impossible to prove a negative. But anyone who has stood in line for a driver's license knows instinctively that the U.S. goverment isn't capable of pulling off the events of last September. Such a deed would require long-term planning, MASSIVE cooperation, blood trust, utmost secrecy and no LEAKS.

Washington can't take a shower without an all points bulletin being issued. But George Bush----remember, who's considered a "not too bright" bungler----managed to kill thousands of Americans under the guise of radical Islamic terrorists so that he can build an oil pipeline through Afghanistan?? Sorry, people, but you can't have it both ways: MORON or GENIUS? Pick ONE.

Most amusing of all the conspiracy theories is the one suggesting that the media are some monolithic purveyor of disinformation underwritten by the Arctic Big Ten or their equivalent. I'm told, for instance, that I am paid by the right-wing propaganda machine. "You're being paid to lie to the American people," wrote one of my new fans.

I know of no reporters, editors or columnists in the Western hemisphere who wouldn't sell his mother's honeymoon pictures for a good story. NO one is off limits when TRUTH----or a PULITZER---is at stake. The idea that columnists are highly paid by ANYONE is good for a chuckle. Frankly, this isn't helping my headache, which began on Sept. 11. I was minding my own business when all of a sudden, I found myself in an underground ice palace, and there were these 10 white guys............

How it changed my life:

I found this article by Kathleen Parker, an Orlando Sentinôolumnist, and much of the content reflects my own thoughts and views.

Kinda of like how early humans explained eclispes andwhy illness and other bad things happened exept in today's world rather then a supernatural explaination they use made up polotical scientific conspiery stories Hugs Mrs.Strider
Date: 4/30/2002 7:21:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    ummm, very good point, Mrs. Strider. I hadn't thought of that one, but it does make sense to me. I'm getting an idea for another post from that idea.... Thank you.
Date: 4/30/2002 7:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 40089    LOL well this one has been long overdue , a Very good post and thanks, alot of us needed to hear some common sence. GOD BLESS
Date: 4/30/2002 7:55:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    Steelbird, it gets to me. I mean; in NO way am I a person who runs around waving the American flag, all "God Bless America", wearing rose colored glasses, and haven't a freaking clue or could care less kind of robot, nor do I think our goverment is squeaky clean choirboys. FAR from it; but I do try to THINK and analyze, and read many different viewpoints, check out the background or credibility of who is saying what, you know? I try to make some sense of it all. And I don't fall for every wild haired theory or story from every guy coming down the pike, no matter how much the majority might be going in that direction. So many are that way, and ESPECIALLY those who live in other countries, often on the other side of the globe. THOSE guys bug me the worst!
Date: 4/30/2002 7:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    Thank you, Thinker.....!!!!! these are priceless! I used to believe, when I was a child, that you could not print something, or say something unless it was true. Then I turned 5 years old, went to kindergarden & discovered schoolyard legands. (I still avoid stepping on cracks, you know, Mom's back?). People feel helpless & are willing to believe the ludicrious in order to feel "some" control on their lives, and the lives of other. This is an excellent post.
Date: 4/30/2002 8:03:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    Thank you, LSG. You're so right. The more bizaare, the more outlandish, the bigger the story, the more it is believed to be true. Throw in lots of different characters, twists and turns and surprises in the plots, and voila!, ya gots some believers..gulping it down and run around repeating it, adding to it, inflaming it, and good grief, it's one huge snowball.
Date: 4/30/2002 8:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    I LOVE THIS POST!! Not ONLY because I posted the same article several days ago, but because it is hilarious and right on target! Also, because this now explains where Elvis has been..

Date: 4/30/2002 8:14:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    Kelly, I forgot to add all those "We're all gonna be put in concentration camps!" , or "Everyone's gonna be implanted with a Chip!" and "America is a Police State!".....hehehe....can you think of some more? Those redneck, skinhead, and or militia websites are so crazy. I came across one the other night....oh mercy me, it was this religious Penecostal preacher. The stuff he had on his site would make you throw up, and.....get this: He had different kinds of weird stuff for sale! "Jesus sandals" and "Baby Jesus Dolls" (afro-american Jesus, a anglo-saxon jesus, or a baby jesus with a halo, you pick...). The bizaare theories he had....
Date: 4/30/2002 8:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    he he..I still haven't gotten over the remote control airplane theory..to think of the time I actually spent arguing with someone over that one..don't forget those tricky freemasons..I just learned the other day that Jack the Ripper was a freemason. You just don't know who you can trust anymore.
Date: 4/30/2002 8:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    thinker, thinker thinker, I choose to remain in the middle not MORON or GENIUS but to wait and see. I post lots of stuff, concentration camps, you bet they are here. Elvis, naw he isnt here, I think he is on the planet kolob with lots of mormons. ONE must not say that these things can never happen. One must wait and see if all the things that are talked about do come to pass or are finally shown for what they are. Jesus sandles?? OK, now that IS GOING to far. LOL
Date: 4/30/2002 9:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    well going to bed early tonight, see ya'll in the morning.
Date: 4/30/2002 10:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 47865    Good post, I'd agree with all of that. One thing I've noticed is that when the African embassies and USS Cole got attacked there didn't seem to be all these conspiracy theories. My personal theory is that Sept 11th was so live-on-tv and traumatic that,as Mrs. Strider says, some people had to come up with a conspiracy theory to explain it all. In an ironic sense just as Taliban/Al-Qaeda are Islamic fundamentalists who believe that all that happens is the will of Allah and we are just his puppets some people in the West are Conspiracy fundamentalists who believe that all that happens is the will of some invisible, omnipotent organisation and we are just its puppets. Best wishes
Date: 5/1/2002 4:23:00 AM  From Authorid: 11528    Truth goes through three stages,,,, first it is ridiculed,,,,, Bye for now. Enki
Date: 5/1/2002 4:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 11528    Kathleen Parker can ridicule the conspiracy theorists, but her writing shows that she has not examined what evidence there is that raises questions. I admit that some conspiracy theories are ridiculous, but others demand examination and that is where the controlled media is failing us the people, hence the conspiracy people. As for the Vreeland affair,,, to ridicule that story is to think that he broke into, and reprogrammed the Pentagon computers, because in a phone call to the pentagon made right in the courtroom they confirmed his being a Naval Leiutenant and even gave his office number. Now do You really think that a small time con artist held in jail, using nothing but a cell phone could break into the pentagon computers and reprogram the directory. What about his Navy record which was sent to the Canadian Govt. The US Govt would have us believe that he generated a 1261 page record in 4 months of boot camp and they would only send 56 pags of it, and parts of the medical records indicate that he was indeed employed by the Navy. What about Federal Express coming out and saying that there was no fraud committed by Vreeland and that the Navy was underwriting charges made on the card. I think Kathleen should do some homework before publishing articles like the above. The WTC attacks,,, simple just follow the money trail, it leads right back to American Companies. Just look into the put options purchased on the the airlines that crashed into those buildings. 600% above what is considered normal, no investigations into the attacks at WTC, and removal of all the debris without examination. Face it, they are hiding something. I think Kathleen published this piece for a couple reasons, #1 to show her willingness to "go along to get along" therby enhancing her own worth to the manipulaters and #2 there must be a lot of heat and pressure on those who orchestrate events to suit thier own interests. I'll leave you with this well known quote, " The first casuality of war, is TRUTH" Bye for now. Enki
Date: 5/1/2002 5:46:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    Enki, The truth, a TRUE STORY, CLAIM must square with VERIFIABLE facts. IF it is not verifiable, one should not repeat and or proclaim that story or claim as TRUTH. (even if it turns out later, in the end to be the truth). How is truth found? By investigation, and reason; testing, questioning and investigation of the so-called FACTS. Now, in no way, NO WAY, do I want to get into specifics of this Vreeland character, or anyother conspiracy theory. Basically, I've read so many claims and accounts, twists, turns, and down this way, that way, and back, and overwhelmed with so-called "facts" of the case; quite frankly, one would have to have had a gadzillion years of experience in LAW to figure anything out! AND, they'd have to be a seasoned and brilliant....and WELL-paid journalist/reporter TO pursue the freaking story. Hey...(LIKE I SAID BEFORE MAYBE there IS a Woodward or Bernstein that is out there doing just that and one day will blow the lid on the whole thing, but RIGHT NOW....it's all theories.
"It is an established maxim and moral that he who makes an assertion without knowing whether it is true or false is guilty of falsehood, and the accidental truth of the assertion does not justify or excuse him".--Abraham Lincoln

Date: 5/1/2002 5:51:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    ALL the facts, testimonies, and truths will be heard, hashed out and determined in A COURT OF LAW regarding the case you cited. Until then, I am not going to jump to fast and or hard conclusions about it. Sure, I have my own honches, or deep-gut feelings but, I have to wait for the results of the trial .
Date: 5/1/2002 5:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 11528    Good Morning Thinker. I agree. We can only go by the facts that have been presented in the courtroom so far, that is why I find the Vreeland case so interesting. Bye the way I got Your postcard last Friday. Thanks for remembering me,,,,, ummmm,,,, did ya get any of thier phone numbers for me. hehehhehehe Bye for now Enki
Date: 5/1/2002 6:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 15070    O.K> got a new "conspiracy theory" for you! I heard that back in the "ancient days" the Jews (Hebrews) had to convert their "forbidden" language into numerical code. And guess what? the number "6" is "W".......so "WWW" means "666". Just thought I would share *smiles* Thank you Thinker, you always have me thinking! Have a good day.
Date: 5/2/2002 4:17:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    Oh, and I know....I KNOW that no matter what evidence there is, no matter how much SENSE is put into a reply to SOME conspiracy theorists, they are hell-bent to glory on "sticking to their story" and believing that which they WANT TO BELIEVE! Here is an example: You know how every week there is someone making a post saying "We never went to the Moon"?? Yeah, these people are not thinking at all. They pay attention to pseudo-"scientists" or some pseudo-"expert" with a PHD on a television program who has no idea what he's talking about, and simply can't think that that was a deliberate deception designed to boost ratings. REAL scientist, Philip Plait, a NASA consultant and astronomer at Sonoma State University in California (he has a website at: badastronomy.com) and astronauts have expressed disgust and outrage, and Plait went on TV and debunked the alleged "evidence" (that the Apollo missions to the moon were Hoaxes) point by point, and traffic soared to 4.5 million page views on his website. The most powerful rebuttal comes from SCIENCE itself. They are preparing to bounce a laser off a set of reflectors on the moon to measure the lunar distance to within one-twentieth of an inch. ******HOW DID THOSE reflectors get there???******APOLLO ASTRONAUTS INSTALLED THEM for just such experiments. .........Plait's goal is to demonstrate that reality is much more interesting and fun than make-believe and all this far out Hollywood space fantasies stuff or some scrambled science a newscaster might create.

Date: 5/4/2002 2:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 37900    This is excellent, Thinker! The beauty of a conspiracy theory seems to be that, regardless of new information or a plot twist, all of it was somehow planned to make everything appear the way it does. It is unsettling to imagine that someone wants to control me with a chip, poison my water or expose me to more years of a (barely) living Elvis. As if we don't have enough problems with death and taxes. Great post!
Date: 5/4/2002 4:30:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24924    Alfrowi, Your comment made me remember something. Just recently, I went on a Cruise. Before the sail date, I was issued a small card. Embedded in this card was a micro chip. Everywhere I went, everytime I disembarked, went aboard, or purchased something on the ship; my card was swiped through a machine....Voila! Instantly, on a computer screen, there appeared my passport picture, alongside my LIVE (on camera) image; and all kinds of info about me. Only took seconds; and I was on my way. I thought to myself: WHY CAN'T IT BE THAT SIMPLE EVERYWHERE!?? I loathe long lines, and delays and all that ##!~?#{#! at airports, medical facilities, goverment agencies, etc. What is so wrong with just having one simple, tiny chip on an I.D. card? Good grief, all info is available on us anyway, right? The difference is, that this just makes it just more expedicious; much less hassle. As for the very WILD theory, ( running rampant these days) of it being "forced upon everyone, in the form of a under the skin chip", NO, no amount of reasoning can appease these paranoids. Trying to explain to them that it is ONLY on a volunteer basis as far as some medical reason, will not do it. I KNOW full well, that NO one will ever be able to do a body invasion, of ANY kind, without my consent! Now, if there is someone in a prison system, who comes up with some more, better ways of, improving the system in this way, I'm not opposed to it. Law breakers today, get away with murder; literally. Personally, that might be a deterrent; but then again, you'd have some nutcase trying to remove the chip himself, a self "surgery". So, I don't think that makes too much sense here, if you do a logical, follow through train of thought.
Date: 5/4/2002 8:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 47865    Ok, I don't buy all this Sept 11th conspiracy stuff, but even if it was true why attack the Pentagon? What really made the impact that day was the WTC attacks, that's what fired up America. Ask yourself this question what outraged you more the attacks on the WTC or the Pentagon?
If the military/whoever was behind the attacks why would they want to attack a target where their own people would be killed? Best wishes

Date: 5/5/2002 6:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 9130    Not all conspiracy theories are just "theory" remember FEMA?
Date: 5/14/2002 1:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 54174    sorry but i don't think the george w bush one is a ridiculous conspiracy theroy.. it could happen.. and just how things went and how things were handled.. its just so weird. i just really dont trust our president =(( Mercedes
