Ok, as far as I know from my discussions with the other Elders, the test will be of your knowledge of our religion, some basic things. The time before the test should be spent studying texts of our laws and customs etc, and questions should be asked of the Elders before the test begins if you are unsure of anything. |

The whole process of being a Wiccan is learning about nature and the Goddess and God, etc. You can either be a solitary Wiccan, or a part of a Coven. Solitaries are usually ecclectic, and choose the best way for themselves to follow the path, whereas a Coven Wiccan will follow the path through the Coven. |

Not as a solitary, they themselves choose when and what to do, when to dedicate themselves, when to initiate themslves, and how they do it. As a part of a coven, the coven will usually have people wanting to join on a probationary basis, before they are fully accepted. |

lots of the new books all say the same thing, i love reading the ancient texts - the old grimoires and such. if nothing else it is an amazing glimpse into the minds of old. i believe the people 'thought' more back then..no technology to hinder them - they used their minds and used what they felt. not that we can't today, just meaning, they had more TIME to think..so, i love reading what it was they thought about. |

Hmmm, well I would take a look round bookshops, see if you can find books on Wicca, Witchcraft, and Earth based religions, or from people you know who may have them. Read as much as you can, and ask questions of those who will know things. It's how I began, my friend taught me. |

i never had friends that were into it..i had to read and find my own path. it is good to know others that can support you 8-) there are lots of things available on the net these days believe it or not...old grimoires and such..i also worked for a university - and had access to their archives on microfiche..my GOODNESS some of the things they had..i was in heaven. i read everything not just on wicca - but the old angelic texts ( i wanted to know where the things in the movie the prophecy came from..if it was based on truth)..and it was..there is quite a bit of old writing on angels and their ranks and such..that is all very interesting to read. i made copies of it..and so my library is mostly copied old texts put into binders. |

tandris, when i can get to work again ( i am training off site next week, but can go in after hours and get to my favorites list) i will do a post or else put it in a coven meeting the links i have to old stuff on the net..i was surprised myself to see that lots of it has been put on the net..thank goodness someone took the time..because instead of having to peruse texts you can do a search on parts or words. i also have the ibm viavoice software..my goal someday is to have it all spoken into the computer where i can do searches on various ones at the same time and compare..but that is way off LOL, will take alot of time. |

let me add..that one of those sites claims to have ALL the old texts including some not available on the net on disc..cd disc..and you can order it for about 20 bucks..i haven't yet but i might, that way, i coudl make copies cause i have a cd burner..and send them to anyone that wanted it for free - i will check into that this week..don't know how long it will take to order though |

okay - i looked and there are two different ways to order..rather than sending a check to the guy listed..i'll order it through the magus book company i think..they said it ships in 1-3 days..so i should have it in about a week or week and a half..i will order it wednesday - - -i found that site by searching for one that they do have online..that site - has several of the ones listed ONLINE and available to read..you might not have read them all - i have read everything they've made public.. |
