A bright, shinny little ball of light went in a straight line over some houses one night...

People will think I'm nuts and/or making these stories up, but they are all true, this is no exception. One night while I was at a place called "The Battery" in downtown Charleston, I saw a little ball of bright shinny light appear over the rooftops of the large old houses down there. It floated along in a straight line over several of them, then disappeared as easily as it appeared. It left a sort of trail behind it, like a comet going through space might leave a trail. But it appeared, traveled in a straight line, then disappeared all in the same line. I just finished viewing photos on a site that claim to be photos of ghosts. Well, since this thing said nothing to me and did nothing more than that I described, I really do not know what it was. I remembered thinking it was something alive, that maybe we don't have all the species on the plannet logged yet. But that was then. I don't know now whether or not it was a ghost. I do know that many of those old places down there it is believed that some are haunted and Charleston even has ghost walk tours. If that ball of light I saw then was a ghost, I guess I haven't been left out of everything after all. Maybe it flew over the tops of those houses thinking that it wouldn't be seen...

How it changed my life:

It didn't really, it was a tame and uneventful sort of thing.

Date: 4/20/2002 6:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 5886    If it was moving really fast, then I'd say it was a Fireball. Fireballs are large peices of a Comet or Meteor that burn up in the Atmosphere, most of them leaving behind a smoke trail that can last for a few seconds up to several minutes. They're bright, move in a straight line, and seem to appear and dissapear quickly. And during the 1700's during meteor showers, people believed the meteors were inches from their face before they vanished, but they were thousands of feet in the air when they actually did burn up. So distance perception with these things is difficult to tell. But hey, it could be a Ghost, UFO, or something totally paranormal.
