Where to start! ah the beginning seems like a good place....well my family and i were on yet another interesting ;) family vacation, except this time instead of going to the same boring place like usual, we went to gettysburg. i'd never been there before, and was waiting for a rather mundane day. we got there around nine-thirty in the morning, and decided to take a "tape tour"....it was okay, i guess, although four hours in the car with my family was almost unbareable. thank goodness, that's not the only thing that happened that day!
That evening, around eight-fifteen, we went on a ghost-walk tour....which was aimed at quite a younger audience, but it was at least mildly amusing. anyway, after we finished that tour we went back to the car, and my dad asked if we all wanted to go drive around the battlefield a bit before it closed at ten. i was a little apprehensive, knowing that the battlefield at Gettysburg was supposedly one of the most haunted ever, being a strong believer in the supernatural, but i also realized that i was 1. in a safe, moving car, 2. i wasn't alone, and 3. i had a feeling (i get that feeling a lot, and it's usually truthful) that these ghosts weren't malevolent...just lost and confused, which makes sense, if you think about it in the context.
So, we got in the car, and we drove down the highway to the more secluded part of the battlefield, but the part that was also a quicker drive. when we got there, my dad thought it would be funny to scare us. he kept on stopping the car, and turning off the headlights...and making weird noises....which was actually quite funny, considering i had dealt with his stupid antics all my life. anyway, so then we went down one path, and out the other side; i hadn't had any weird preminitions or "feelings", so i thought that i had nothing to worry about, and began to feel kind of sleepy.
Going down the second path, which was more curvy and longer than the first, my dad kept the headlights on the entire way...just as we were going around this bend i felt this strange (though not necessarily bad) chill pass through me, uncontrollably, from head to toe, and i couldn't stop shaking. all of a sudden, my dad jerked the car to a hault, and i flew back against, the seat slamming my head in the process...i was just about to say something mean (i know, not nice, but i was tired and a little scared, even if i didn't want to admit it, and i was also SO tired of his asinine jokes) when he started to back up the car. i thought i saw something out of the corner of my eye....but then it was gone, so i thought it just a figment of my imagination. the next thing he said was, "nancy [that's my mom's name], i think i just say a ghost..."
i was sooo excited because my dad is a strict non-believer in things that are supernatural....of course, after he said that, he tried to come up with some logical, scientific, proveable explanation for it...but i KNOW that it shook him up, even a little. He thought he saw a man bending over in a chestnut-brown "suit"....the same color of the uniform of the division commemoration statue that the man was standing next to!! I believe that he saw what he orginally thought he saw....whether he doesn't believe it or not.... How it changed my life:This helped to prove to me the fact that ghosts really DO exist.....especially if a non-believer saw one!! i think this is fascinating!! :) You can join Unsolved Mysteries and post your own mysteries or interesting stories for the world to read and respond to Click hereScroll all the way down to read replies.Show all stories by Author: 52736 ( Click here )
