Date: 4/15/2002 8:26:00 PM From Authorid: 27046 Actually I have no clue...ours was "given" to us and we had to buy the cords to go in the back of it which cost us $50.. |
Date: 4/15/2002 8:26:00 PM From Authorid: 50435 They're really not that expensive at all. But just a word of warning: You will most likely not use it as often as you think...lol. I bought one thinkin' "Oh yeah, I'm gonna make this CD and that CD..." and after about my fifth CD or so I just said, "Oh, well, whatever..." LOL. It is definitely handy to have, though. But I don't recommend scrounging your dough just to buy one. Go to your local computer place. I find the smaller ones to be much better with better prices. Remember, they want your repeat business and you referral so they definitely don't want you to read in a flyer that the same burner you bought is $100 less somewhere else. Take care and happy CD makin'...Gallytuck. |
Date: 4/15/2002 8:29:00 PM From Authorid: 24732 It's actually better if you get one when you buy a new computer. I know lots of people who have had trouble installing external ones, and especially internal ones. |

Date: 4/15/2002 10:35:00 PM From Authorid: 48525 I have a Liteon, but not sure on cost (came w/ computer)but I do know that you'll want one that burns at atleast 16x10x40 (highest speed). Mine is 24x10x40, but I'm having problems getting the burnt disks to play in my home stereo. They play fine in dvd player and computer (I'm looking to transfer onto cassette so I don't have to buy a cd player for my van cuz I'm cheap LOL)but they are very cool to have. Price is going to vary anyway, depending on what brand and functions it has, and also where you get it. Shop around a little before you commit to one. Good luck! ~Roaryblue |
Date: 4/15/2002 11:12:00 PM From Authorid: 21867 Actually, CD Burners aren't really that expensive...when you consider how much money you will be saving burning songs etc. Most burners only cost as much as 10 or less CDs...so hey, in the long run its a saving. Be aware that some re-writeable disks (CD-RW) can't be played on other home media such as your own CD player/stereo or car stereo...instead, for those I use basic CD-Rs, as they seem to work easier. Another thing is make sure you have a good 'burner' programme such as Windows Media which converts the normal MP3 format to standard audio format. Peace, |
