As I slept, I dreamt that I was flying among the mountains of Rovan, circling in the air enjoying my freedom. I tilted slightly to the left to descend left. I passed a cave, where at the entrance, there sat another hybrid, Krystal. I remembered how she looked like from the crystal ball but she looked different, more haggard and more weaker. I landed at the entrance and bowed to her.

She stood up and mentioned for me to enter the cave. I did and it was in total darkness. She gripped my hand, her touch felt ivy cold. She led me down a whole maze of passages that I didn’t have time to memorize them. Then we stopped. Krystal walked over to a piece of flat ground and started digging it. A few minutes later, she held a glowing white gem. I gasped, "The Star Gem!" Krystal nodded and set it back into the ground and covered it up.

Then she waved her hand across the wall in front of me. Fiery words appeared with a blinding flash. I blinked a few times before I looked at the words:

Evil is once again attacking the land of Kendar, Elvera’s power is once again going stronger. You have been given this quest to recover the Star Gem and keep it safe. From now on, you shall be playing with the Wild Cards, use them well…

I looked at Krystal and saw that she was holding a bag. I took it and nodded, I accepted the quest. She led me to the entrance and left me there as she went back into the cave. I kept the Wild Cards in my pockets before leaping off the cliff. Normally, my hands would change into wings but this time, they didn’t. I landed on the ground with a hard thump.

I woke up to find my head hurting. I opened my eyes and saw Akar bending over me, in his wolf form, licking my face. When I opened my eyes, he went back to his normal form. "Are you all right Wild?" he asked me concernedly. I shook my head. "I had a strange dream, Krystal told me to get the Star Gem and that Elvera’s power is growing again," I said. "Easy there Wild, it’s just a dream. Come on, get up," Akar told me. I got up and I have to admit that I almost agreed with him except at that moment I felt something in my pocket. I reached in and drew out a bag. I gasped and dropped it immediately. At that very moment, I felt a dark force reaching out to me and pulling into darkness.

I woke up to find myself in the healing cave with Akar and Harmiri, our Kendha doctor. I groaned and sat up, my head was hurting still. "Lie still," Harmiri said. I did as I was told. Harmiri then led Akar out.

They came back a few minutes later and Akar took me home. He told me everything. He told he that if he hadn’t caught me when I blacked out, I would be in a worse state. He took out the bag of wild cards and handed it to me. "Here, you dropped this," he said. I looked at him. "Akar, Krystal gave me these wild cards," I said.

He looked at me, shocked. "Then it is real," he said. I nodded. "Wild? I have to tell you something…"he said. "Go on, tell me," I said. "Wild, I hate to tell you this but Harmiri said," he began. "Said what?" I asked.

"He said…that…that…you won’t be able to fly again till the next…the next…Star Festival," he said finally. I rocked backwards shocked. The next Star Festival would only be in fifteen years time! I looked at Akar with my eyes. "Thank you my friend for telling me," I said. "He said the knock on your head has temporary prevent you to use your ability to fly, and it needs that much time to heal and to become normal again," he added. I nodded. "But Elvera won’t wait that long," I said. He nodded.

"Despite my condition, we have to fulfill this mission given to us," I said. Akar nodded. "Let’s start packing, we shall set off at day break tomorrow for the caves of Rovan," I said. Akar nodded and left for his cave.
