Date: 4/6/2002 5:34:00 PM From Authorid: 40341 My husband has brown hair and I have brown hair but two of my children have blond hair and one has brown. I was blonde when I was little if that makes any sense.MammaMonkey |
Date: 4/6/2002 5:35:00 PM From Authorid: 23396 I dunno my mom has blonde hair blue eyes, she is about 5'6 and my dad has brown hair green eyesand is about 6'0....but i have blonde/lightbrown hair and blue eyes and i am 5'2 |
Date: 4/6/2002 5:39:00 PM From Authorid: 49719 Chances are you will have a tall child (because tallness is dominant to shortness), and the child will most likely look like you colorwise. It's possible to have a child with red hair, if red hair runs somewhere in the family. I know a kid like this too, with the same parental situation (brown and blonde). I know about this stuff from biology, plus I love genetics. |
Date: 4/6/2002 5:42:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 36079 what r the chances of blue eyes? I was taught that only if both parents have blu, that they can have blue, butv thats not always the case. |
Date: 4/6/2002 5:43:00 PM From Authorid: 28946 My Dad had black hair and brown eyes, Momma had lt. brown hair and green eyes. All 8 of us kids have shades o different shades of hair and eyes. 6 have dark brown eyes , one of us has gray eyes, and my eyes change from dark brown toa lt. brown with green tones. 7 have dark hair and one lucky brother had the prettiest red hair you ever saw. I know nothing about genetics but I do know one of my brothers and his dark featured wife have a blue eyed blonde in the family. as I too nhave a grandchild that way. Seems my Mothers genetics every so often will get thru the Indian and Spanish genes. |
Date: 4/6/2002 5:50:00 PM From Authorid: 42519 My dad has black hair, my moms is brown, My Moms sisters is dishwater blonde, one of her daughters is blonde, the other is a deep redhead, My moms mother was a redhead, My oldest sister has dark brown almost black hair, and 3 other sisters have brown hair, and I have a dishwater red hair.... My parents are short, thus we are short... my uncle is really tall, so his two kids are pretty tall, so Im guessing the child will be tall, with unknown hair color, My family turned out to be brown eyed, and I think my two cousins are too, but its wierd... I dont bother to think of it. |
Date: 4/6/2002 6:06:00 PM From Authorid: 50474 yes it can be possible, but u wouldn't have red hair b/c it is a blend of the haircolors, someone in your family would have to have it and statisticly it would be rare. There are dominant and recessive genes. ressesive is blonde hair, short (i think) blue eyes, fair skin, ect... dominant is dark dking, hair, eyes.... than in between it is a battle of which gene is more powerfull (dominant) and which is weeker (recessive) yeah i had to learn this all in school, so if ur husband is brown hair pure (both parents have brown hair) it would be represeted as BB, if he is mixed (one parent brown one parent diff.) it would be Bb, if neither parents are brunette, than it would be bb, you match every thing up and its a mathamatical ratio of matching, so if u want me to help u figure it out, message me with ur parents genes, and ect. but of course it is possible for an ancesters gene to pop up every now and than, don't u luv science class...growns-may |
Date: 4/6/2002 6:14:00 PM From Authorid: 17014 Usually brown eyes are dominate. So, I would guess brown eye with either brown or blonde hair. |
Date: 4/6/2002 6:16:00 PM From Authorid: 17014 Tallness--- I have to scoff-- that tallness over shortness thing is not true-- I'm 5'4" and my mom is 5'7" and my dad is 6'2".... explain that one.... |
Date: 4/6/2002 6:18:00 PM From Authorid: 17014 Actually my hair is light brown with red in it-- my mom is brown haired and my dad is total blonde.... red is possible without a genetic factor in past generations. |
Date: 4/6/2002 6:24:00 PM From Authorid: 33925 Well I have brown hair and green eyes, my husband has brown hair and VERY blue eyes..Our child we have together has brown hair and VERY blue eyes...so I guess both parents dont have to have blue eyes...Also from my first marriage...My ex has blonde hair and green eyes...one child has blonde hair and green eyes, another has brown hair and green eyes, and another has brown hair and BLUE eyes..even though His father and I both have green eyes..I believe his blue eyes came from my Father who had very blue eyes...xoxo |
Date: 4/6/2002 6:34:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 36079 Lady, I heard that green eyes have the blue eye trait. Thank you all for all your help on this! |

It really depends on which genes give away to an even split and which ones take the dominanced over the others . In my family for example , blue and brown eyes are dominant .... I have hazel eyes .There is a very dtsinct look to the facial features from my dad's side that if I did not have , you would swear from looking at my brothers that my mom had fooled around .... Like the rest of my family , my natural hair color is black but , since it is so fine the Fl. sun keeps it blonde . So basically , all you could do now is guess . Even though genes are shared , there are always some that change or are lost along the way .... then there are some you never knew you had that pop up once you have a child .... Look at Dinah Shore . She gave birth to a black child and it destroyed her and her husband's marriage and it turned out her great great grandmother was a slave but light enough to be considered white and married her great great grandfather . It was not till 1998 when she , the father and , the child went and took a DNA to disband doubts once and for all . The now grown child was indeed a product of them both and , NOONE ELSE !!!! 2 yeat=rs later Dinah died but , at least she knew that she and her child were vindicated .... Life is like a box of chocolate ex-lax so don't even worry aboput trying to guess .... Take Care .... MichaelSalyers |
Date: 4/6/2002 6:37:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 36079 My husbands half sisters on his fathers side (twins) have red hair. Two cousins of his have red hair too. I have irish in me so red hair has to be somewhat in me right? lol |
Date: 4/6/2002 6:38:00 PM From Authorid: 44018 P.S. Eye color is generally made up by the balance of our brain chemistry . People with hazel eyes are the types that are ever changing or , evolving .... MichaelSalyers |

Date: 4/6/2002 7:10:00 PM From Authorid: 48587 OK I did a square for genes on your traits, and I came up with these possibilities: If you are homozygous dominant, then your baby will DEFINETLEY have brown or green eyes, if you are heterozygous, it could have blue eyes, on a 50/50 chance. Hair wise, I'm not sure. |
Date: 4/8/2002 8:12:00 AM From Authorid: 48577 I think that you can not only go by the parents, but the ancestary of the parents. But you can't really know untill the baby is born and you find out, and just becouse they are born one way don't mean they will stay that way. My son was born with Orange hair and blue eyes, he now has bluish green eyes and dish water blonde hair. My first daughter was born with blue eyes and black hair and now has blue eyes and strawberry blondle hair and then my second daughter was born with blue eyes and brown hair, I figured her hair would at least change too, but hers stayed the same. Well good luck. tigerlilly24 |
Date: 4/19/2002 12:21:00 PM From Authorid: 45596 WELL.......... to the studies i've done it shows he'l have brown hair with blue eyes. blue is the dominate gene for eyes and brown is the dominate gene for hair. but i'm 100% on this so you know.......Being Evil Means Never Having To Say Your Sorry.... Date: 5/8/2002 7:43:00 AM From Authorid: 17516 It's been ages since I was in biology class, but I do remember this. Simplistically, everyone receives two genes (one from each parent) for things like height, eye color, etc. So, if your child got a blue eyed gene from you and a brown eyed one from your husband, the child would have brown eyes. Someone with blue eyes has to have two blue eyed genes. Therefore, if both parents had blue eyes, their children's eyes would be blue. I have blue eyes, and so does the mother of my ex-husband. Because of this I knew we would have a 50/50 chance of having a blue eyed child. All I have to contribute is the blue gene, and since my ex's mother's eyes are blue, I knew he had one blue eyed gene too. Does this make sense? |
Date: 5/9/2002 8:26:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 36079 ahh, ok, but hubby has blue eyeshis mother had blue and his father had brown. I have brown eyes my mother has green and my father brown. I heard that green eyes have the gene for blue eye, so does that mean that my child can have either brown or blue eyes? |
Date: 5/9/2002 10:56:00 AM From Authorid: 17516 I'm not sure if the gene for green eyes is the same as for blue, but if it is that would mean that your husband is blue/brown and you are blue/brown which means that your child has a 1 in 4 chance of having blue eyes. |
Date: 5/15/2002 12:45:00 AM From Authorid: 54344 HEY WELL MY DAD HAS BROWN HAIR MY MOM HAS BLONDE HAIR BOTH OF THEM HAVE BROWN EYES AND I HAVE STRAWBERRYBLONDE HAIR AND BLUE EYES SOOOOO GENETICS I HAVE NO CLUE HMM MAYBE I WAS A TEST TUBE BABY........... |
Date: 5/22/2002 8:12:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 36079 lol, yeah, genetics is screwy! |
Date: 6/17/2005 10:35:00 AM From Authorid: 16376 Interesting..genetics are weird. My brother is 6'3 and I am 5'1, both of our parents are about 5'8, so we all are really different heights, lol |
