I guess its because WE older usmer's are use to doing things different. I think that is why we older usmer's retain friendships as we do respond to comments, to posts, and fill in our profile. I've made lots of friends here, *some enemies too* lol, but its all good. Personally I think you have made some very good posts lately, and I agree with the ones that I have comment to. I mean really, its hard to make friends with some that dont even bother to answer their posts, fill in a profile and then they go waaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaing around because they are not *popular* or havent made any friends. One has to "give" to "recieve", hugs. |

I do like to find out who I'm talking to. I know my daughter who hasnt been on in a while isnt even able to put her age on her profile. I do think it would help to at least know the age and gender of the person. The rest to me is saying way to much. Lets face it, I'm Uninteresting. I know it and so I hate to have to share that with USM.LOL  |

I just replied on your post and I wasn't offended. However, I didn't agree with you. Here is my comment from the other post: "Members under the age of 13 can not fill in their ages and personal information by law. Other people may not want to fill them in because maybe they are afraid of weirdos on the internet that might actually use their information to con them or mislead them. As for the ages, it shouldn't matter. You should be able to approach everyone the same way. I don't see how it would make it tough to be you. The age factor of others shouldn't prohibit you from being yourself." Now, that I read thois post I understand you wouldn't want to make the same sort of reply to a kid as you would to an adult? If that's the case, this is a G rated site. Anything you would say to an adult here would be G Rated and should be acceptable for a kid. So, unless you're planning on fighting with people and want to make sure it's not a kid, I don't see how knowing the persons age before you talk to them would make a difference.  |

Hi again Hawk. Well, seeing as how you've been here around the same amount of time I have, I'm sure you know that I'm not one that goes overboard (beyond the g-rating). As for why does it make a difference? Well, again, there are subjects that come up all of the time here and the way that I would approach it depends upon whether I am addressing an adult or a child. As for my "fighting" again, my track record speaks pretty much for itself. |

Oh, I know you don't have a bad track record with fighting...lol! I just think the comments you leave shouldn't make a difrference since the site is G rated. BUT, I can see if a kid submited a post about wanting to get serious with a boy...then you would want to know if they're an adult or not, so you don't leave them a comment giving them the go ahead. So, now that I've thought about it more, in a situation like that...age would be necessary to know. But, any other situation, I don't think it would be a problem for me. |

I think that the profiles are for fun and not a requirement to be here. To each his own!  If there are kids on here wanting to know about getting serious w/a boy or girl, the proper people to talk to is their parents. We all want to keep our children safe but lets face it we can't all be responsible for everyone on this site, only our selves. I don't think you created an uproar at all. Just a few people who wanted to respond with their opinions. Just what this whole site is about.  |
