Tough Job

I had a thought from a previous reply i put on a post about whether one would answer yes or no about believing in God in a life or death situation.

Here's the debate: I say no one can describe God.

Here's the rules:

1. No biblical quotes.

2. No quotes from any "known" books or authors. :-)

3. 25 words or less

4. Upon completion, you MUST be able to say "THIS IS GOD" and have everyone agree with you.

I've mulled this issue over many times and have come to the conclusion that when someone asks me whether I believe in God, I'm forced to ask them to describe God first. Do I believe in God? Describe God first, then I can answer. Have fun, remember the rules, especially rule #4, and above all, be truthful to yourself. Peace, Osiris

Date: 4/5/2002 6:12:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 17525    Good one's Tyger girl. I remember reading something along the lines of God is not a being, per se, but rather Being ITSELF. I guess that's oly half the story because I believe God is existence ITSELF.
Date: 4/5/2002 6:14:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 17525    LOL Floating Jeffs Head, that's the point of the post. I don't believe it can be done completely. We can describe what we think are the aspects of God but to describe God would be to understand what God is. I don't believe the human mind can do that. All it can do is embrace it.
Date: 4/5/2002 6:16:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 17525    hey Tiger Underground. Good shot. Can I ask though that when things go wrong, is God still the reason? Just a thought. peace,

Date: 4/5/2002 6:20:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 17525    Dizzy, my sister! Remember the Hindu mind also. Is God not also destruction. Everything comes into existence but also ceases to exist at some point too. Hugs
Date: 4/5/2002 6:23:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 17525    This is more an excercise in unity. Good replies. Bottom line is which ones can we ALL agree on? There's a philosophical school of thought which refuses to attempt to describe what God. Any such attempts are made by describing rather what God IS NOT, as that is less strain on the mind. Thanks for the replies. Off to work now. check in later. Peace,
Date: 4/5/2002 6:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 28899    Hmmm.. Try watching any sport on T.V.. At the end, the winning team will praise god, and the losing team will blame their knees. I don't think 'god' is something to praise, or to blame. It's just there. But, I don't think calling it "god" is accurate, or fair. But, that's probably just me. So, I guess I'm no good at this game, since I can't seem to follow the last two rules. It certainly fun to think about though .
Date: 4/5/2002 12:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 52155    God is. This is God
Date: 4/5/2002 3:51:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 17525    I'll try once more here just for the heck of it. God is movement and rest, within, transcending and beyond all creation, inhabiting also our own being. 16 words. Happy Friday!!!!!
Date: 4/5/2002 5:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 9130    Okay: God is creation, destruction, feeling and unfeeling, all knowing yet knowing nothing...
