Whoever hasn't received a love poem before- then this post may be for you. I've taken a series of my dad's poems and spread them out over the life of an imaginary couple. Now close your eyes for a second and take a deep breath-----these are just for you>)
Junior High School "Untitled Poem Left In Your Locker"
I sat across from you in class today, And watched your hair, your eyes, your face; I couldn't muster the courage to speak- So instead I sighed and wished and breathed.
First Date Circa High School Graduation "Card Attached To Bouquet"
Ever since school I've been attracted to you, The way you look, the way you are, the way you move, Tonight we will go out, It'll be the first time- But I'll show you the best time- And pretty soon you'll see, I'll make you fall in love with me!
Engagement "Together 4 Ever"
They all say we are too young, we'll be sorry, It'll end in divorce, I don't care, I don't want to care, I am in love, I've been in love, I've always known you'd be the one, I'll be in love-with you-Forever! (My sweet one)
Marry me tonight! I'll show you the world from different eyes, This world and its different sights, This love from a thousand places- Our love in a million faces- And where ever we are, whom ever we meet, Our love will always be 100% pure, 100% complete.
Divorce "Attached To the Signed Subpoena"
I never thought it would come to this, A Simple scribble on a sheet- Wipes out our love, our life, our memories, Scratch here: End it all; end this foul, grotesque misery! Just sign here-
3 ½ Years After the Divorce "Time Passes"
Time passes and I cant' forget, Life withers and I can't forget, You're not the same and I can't forget, I'm not the same and you can't forget, I still call you cause' I can't forget, You still call me cause' you can't forget I was so sure we were meant to be, And it's still your face I want to see, How bout' a drink tomorrow or a bite, Perhaps a kiss- Perhaps all night.
5 Years After the Divorce "Anticipation"
The tension builds so slowly, And yet it builds non-the-less, The minutes pass so slowly, How many I can not guess;
I look down at the L.C.D., I change the stations rapidly, But every song sounds the same, Out of tune and out of range;
When will you finally call, When will you finally dial, When will you lose your resolve, -And call me! -And gift me your smile;
I'll see you next month for an hour or two, And make sweet, mad, passionate love to you, Do you ever look back or stop and wonder- Why it is that absence makes the heart grow fonder?
29 Years Later "On the Back of a Business Card"
Still together! (One way or another) Still together! (It's only a little bother) You're still the one! (Or may be I'm just too old-n'-done) Either way pass the cream cheese- (My Sweet One).
