Date: 3/31/2002 8:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 30527    Do yourself a favor, and go back to school. Not for the reasons that you cited, but for yourself. School provides you an opportunity to prepare you for adult life in " the real world ". To not return to school, and finish your education will severly limit your earning potential in todays world. Don't believe me??? If not, then I challange you to look in your local newspaper under the classified ads, or help wanted catagory. Read every listing for employment, and circle every ad which requires a high school diploma or a college education. When you are done, go back and review the ads which are not circled. That, my friend, is your future without an education. G.E.D.? Sounds good at first, but alot of employers will not accept a G.E.D. Not only that, but how could a person possibly gain the knowledge learned by others in a four year period, in only a six month G.E.D. program? The future awaits you! Either you will put in the required work needed to secure your future, or you will take the easy way out, which equals a long hard struggle through life. Make te right choice. Go back to school and take care of your very best friend in the world, ........ yourself. Learn all that you can, become everything that you have ever desired to be, and walk across that stage, and recieve your High School Diploma knowing that you did your best. In the end, you will be glad that you did. - Class of 1984

Date: 3/31/2002 8:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 52489    The issue is not your being lonely, it's how far do you want to go in life? It's very hard to get good work without a high school diploma (or a GED)! Even if you join the Army, you can't rise above sergeant without proof that you graduated from a high school! What are you going to do with your life? Cook hamburgers until you're sixty? Steal cars and rob liquor stores for your daily bread? Do you want to go to college? If so, you can't do that without SAT scores, and you can't take the SAT unless you've been to high school!

You SCREWED UP by leaving, but it's not too late to change the path you're on! Go back to the school office, explain what happened, and admit you were wrong. Look them straight in the eye and say, "I made a mistake, and I admit it. I want to make something of myself. Will you help me?" Nobody can say no to that. If it makes you feel stupid, so what? Confucius once said, "He who makes a mistake and admits it is a fool for five minutes. He who does not admit to a mistake, is a fool forever!"

People who say school is dull are wrong. I had a great time in high school! I made a game out of it! I went to my teachers and asked for the class schedule: what subjects were going to be studied, and when the tests were. Then, I always stayed one chapter ahead of the rest of the class! If there was something I didn't understand, I asked for help. Some of my classmates made fun of me, but I noticed they were the ones who had poor grades and talked the loudest about how great they were! They ended up collecting garbage, while I went to college!

Finally, remember this: The world is full of failures, who all say that it's somebody else's fault. Nobody wants to listen to that!

Date: 4/1/2002 12:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 19345    unless you plan on working at burger king the rest of your life get an education, friends don't pay the rent
Date: 4/1/2002 3:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 48577    You can always make new friends. The day I graduated I was married with two kids and didn't know it at the time, but I was pregnet with my third. So I always say if I can do it, any one can. I also think having a high school diploma is better than a ged, for one it shows that you can stick with something.
Date: 4/1/2002 4:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 47218    definitely go back to school while you still have the chance. I worked for a while in both a high school and a GED program, and high school curriculum does a much better job of preparing students for college. GED is intended more for getting the basics (the *very* basics) out of the way so that you can get a job right way. A high school diploma opens up so many more opportunities for you-- if you keep your grades up, there's a chance that you could go to a good college with scholarships and study for a career that interests you instead of having to work your way up the fast food chain. You can take advantage of your time off to focus yourself and work hard. Perhaps your school even offers accelerated courses so that you can graduate a little earlier. This is your one chance, you can't go back later, so I recommend that you go for it if you really want it. (and start looking into colleges too!)
Date: 4/2/2002 7:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 52584    I dont know if you got my last messages, but you can finish when your friends do. Its correspondence school. You get your high school diploma. Im in the process of finishing my last class, then i will have my diploma. For more information...check out www.citizenschool.com
