The minimalist's gate
To hell and heaven-
Corridors of light-
Blind to what's ahead,
Behind...
Stinging whispers and cries
Crammed with
Yesterday's roses-
Can I shed it all
Like the snake sheds
It's own skin?
We all go back again
To the womb-
A dry autumn cocoon;
There is no answer,
Like a yellow butterfly
Frantically rowing at dusk...
I go back to my room
With sacred plans
To drink my eyeballs numb
And
Hope for a life
That is just long enough
To do so.

(I was inspired tonight while watching my brother reading a copy of Charles Buchowski's "Boarding House Madrigals"..one of my favorite poets....)

No such thing..."they" say. Ok, whatever. Tender years...newly hatched. I was too innocent to lie. Where does a butterfly go when night catches it 40 miles offshore? Night flight... Ahhhhhhhhhh, White Lady..Those words..your words. The twinkling stars and a moonlit night. Thank you Anabel. Good to read you again, my friend....
Date: 3/27/2002 7:39:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 34775    Thanks Kronk...I am really glad that you liked it...I have another in the works right now...I told you I was going to write tonight..lol....I hope that it cured your shakes...take care of you, and as always, your replies are so appreciated...~

Date: 3/27/2002 8:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 46091    Yeah baby! That poem is smoldering with angst. I was just thinking of Ringo's great brooding scene in A Hard Day's Night... we will have to watch that together, love. -Patrick
Date: 3/28/2002 6:14:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 34775    Wow! Thanks Mr. Death, what a compliment...!! There are lots of great poets on USM...I love basking in all their talent...thank you, again for the kind words~
Date: 3/28/2002 6:41:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 34775    Hmmmm...baby, do I have the angst today and you have the sass? Or vice versa? lol...yep...curled up on the couch...*sigh*..love ya!~Bel
Date: 3/28/2002 10:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 44404    the yellow butterfly rowing frantically is such a beautiful image. i was curious about the drinking eyeballs until i read your afterward though. that is quite a nice image as well. tell him i says "hey."
Date: 3/28/2002 11:55:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 34775    lol....LMAO (in fact!)...Brady is in the doghouse for lecturing the world on his new found "strength and power in sobriety" and then unceremoniously going out with Drew and getting trashed the night before last without so much as a telephone call to Sarah...lol..so he was sitting in the dark last night...the loney man reading Buchowski...lol! But really...this is MY poem...I enjoy the power of being able to decide wheteher something is worthy enough for the angst and a great self-punishing bender....
Date: 3/29/2002 7:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 33286    wow,, how did i miss this??? too much Ana,, this was great...

Date: 3/29/2002 10:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 28363    I like this even though I don't know what a Madrigal is *hugs*
Date: 3/29/2002 10:21:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 34775    lol..Donno..that is so endearing...glad you like it anyway...here is the definition of "Madrigal" straight from the pages of Webster..."An unaccompanied vocal composition for two or threeavoices, following a poetic form developed in Italy in the late 13th and early 14th centuries....or, simply, a short poem, often about love, suitable for being set to music." heheeee
