Im all FOR casterating rapists, pedophiles and child molesters! The heck with just sterilizing them..LOL...As for your question..in general..I dont really know how I feel about sterilization..On one hand I think it would be a good idea so that the gene is not passed on, but on the other hand...what if the gene was NOT heriditary, and the child would be normal?? xoxo  |

On a different grain...Lady Luck, did you know that casterating those vile people that you mentioned, does NOT necessarily curb their drive to commit the sexually motivated acts that they do? They just use other objects other than "themselves" to do the damage with. There are many cases where someone could be insane but have perfectly healthy children....even mentally retarded people can have perfectly healthy and normal children...there is no perfect answer to this question, really...do we have the right to stop anyone from procreacting?  |

From what I understand and I could be wrong (its happened before) is that if it is a genetic defect i WILL hit the child. Maybe not the immediate child , but maybe a great great grandchild. I have also heard and again i could be wrong that within 7 generations that defect will hit my family, your family, your best friends family. If this is true maybe its not a bad idea. My only questiong is where do you draw the line? Is depression a means for sterilization? Some think so.........  |

they are trying to pass a law in cali to do just this, where u can have it surgically done, or they would have to go to a facility every week and take depo, these are for like serial rapists and extreme cases and such, I think for repeat offenders yes.  |

I think that it should be left up to the individuals responsible for the care of some of these people. For example my now deceased cousin Christine had a child before she died. She was a schizophrenic and was living in an adult group home. She was there after coming out of the hospital for the umpteenth time and on new medication that was working. It was the job of the group home to teach her life skills, how to take care of herself and stuff in the hopes that one day she would lead a normal life. Medication is dispensed by the staff and then eventually as the person progresses it is their responsibility to take the medication in efforts to rehabiltate them into society to be free to live on their own without assistance. While living in this group home she was having sex with other residents unprotected and ended up pregnant. I can tell you this much..she was mentally ill and the father of the child is mentally ill. Her brother and sister all have some sort of mental disability, Christine is not my Uncles biological father. My aunt Nancy is a whack job herself and the defect obviously came from her. Guess who is raising this baby.....Aunt Nancy...what percentage does this kid have of not being mentally dibilated in some way...ummmm 0%...I think that my Aunt Nancy and My Uncle Jack were irresponsible in not making sure that she was receiving some form of birth control...and that is my opinion. The state took the baby away from her. It is my opinion that if the state can legally declare you mentally unfit to raise a baby that you have just given birth to and take it away then there should be some way that they can also declare you unfit to procreate....  |

If it was a Genetic trait, Sometimes the trait will skip Generations. If you are convicted of a Rape, and Found Guilty, and cut, to prevent Your Trait from ever re-appearing in some other offspring of yours, Well What if you do not have the Trait and You were falsely convicted and Never Committed an act of Rape? Have you ever Raped? No! Well if you pass these kind of Laws, then You too could get falsly accused, geuss what would happen under such Laws? Lets just leave the Genetics up to God! I think this would be in the best Interist.  |
