We just recently discussed this in my World History class. Some people thought it should be a holiday and others though it should be a day of remembrance. What are your thoughts on this topic?

Date: 3/23/2002 6:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 6528    Is the date of the Pearl Harbor attack a holiday? No, more like a day of remembrance. 911 is often compared to Pearl Harbor (I personally think it was a lot more tragic, in terms of number of deaths) I don't see WHY we'd want a day off of work and stuff like that, almost in celebration--that's nuts. A day of mourning, yes definitely. This will be in our memories forever. Sorry if I don't make sense, it's really early for me.
Date: 3/23/2002 6:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 37101    If 9/11 has a holiday, it would be like we were celebrating the terrorist attacks and we'd be celebrating that the twin towers fell and we'd be celebrating the loss of life. Instead, 9/11 should be a day of rememberance and mourning. -
Date: 3/23/2002 6:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 37843    I agree with Smooth Criminal on this one. ~=~

Date: 3/23/2002 7:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 25734    same as smooth criminal not like a HOLIDAy holiday but a day of rememberance
Date: 3/23/2002 8:49:00 AM  From Authorid: 51879    A day of rememberance, yes a holiday no. I will remember that day untill I die, especially because one of the flights from Logan that hit one of the towers would have been flown by my g/f's dad had he not been sent for additional training... just that alone makes it a day for me. I have to think of it everytime he flies. It was a very tragic thing and every true American will remember it forever.*MadAdams*
Date: 3/23/2002 9:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 9130    No it should NOT

Date: 3/23/2002 10:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 3263    Well said Smooth! I agree!
Date: 3/23/2002 10:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 4144    no way not a holiday! holiday = celebration. what's to celebrate??
Date: 3/23/2002 12:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 17525    Day of rememberance would be nice. We could call it the day democracy died.
Date: 3/23/2002 1:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 48771    I think it should be a Day of rememberence but we should get school off and work
Date: 3/23/2002 4:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    A day of rememberance...not a holiday.
Date: 3/23/2002 4:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 51407    I think it should be both: A holiday that remembers what others did for those poor people who died on that day and to remember of all those who did die. (If only the world were a better place). Luv and Light, ~*Lady of the Lake*~
Date: 3/24/2002 8:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 39763    Yes, besides the 4th of July, we will have 2 months 2 celebrate our beautiful country....& I bet that they will make it a national holiday this year hugz, *StarrWolf*
Date: 3/24/2002 9:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 39763    Or they could make it a three-month period, celebrating America from July-September...THAT WOULD BE REALLY COOL.......*StarrWolf*
Date: 3/24/2002 9:02:00 AM  From Authorid: 39763    Well I didn't really mean celebrating what happened, so it should be A day of rememberance, remembering the firefighters & such -*StarrWolf*
Date: 3/24/2002 9:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 51964    It should simply be a day of remembrance. We shouldnt celebrate the day that America was attacked.
Date: 3/24/2002 9:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 39763    It should be a just a day of rememberance, but I think that we should get off of work & no chool. I know we aren't celebrating it, like Christmas, but it should be a day where evryone lights the candles, waves up American flags, & we should be home with our family & see dear friends
Date: 3/24/2002 6:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 47983    I don't think so...~*Jeset*~
Date: 3/28/2002 12:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 52256    I agree with Smooth Criminal, it should be a day of rememberance and mourning.
Date: 3/28/2002 12:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 25828    hmm....a day of remembrance i think, to make it a holiday , well, all the holidays i know are celebrations..or celebrating a birthday or event - there is no celebration to be had over 9/11..so a day of mourning or remembrance.
