...Shamus waved his arms above his head, and the Earth trembled and a new sound filled the air. It came screaming from the the north the sound of a thousand chainsaws. Against the starry sky to the north could be seen an ominous black cloud, as it got closer the sound got louder and louder. People in the small town went outside to investigate. As the cloud arrived those individuals died screaming as the swarm of scarab beatles devoured them. There was one person who took it a little better than most seeing the scarabs and seeing the people dying. This one person, Jake Mathis, walked into his house, turned up the stereo all the way, got himself a mug of double strength coffee, went back outside and sat down in a patio chair. Jake took a healthy drink from his coffee and waited to be noticed by the swarm....Within an hour Soda Springs will longer cease to exist...Eric woke to the gentle shaking "Eric are you awake?" Anna asked as his eyes opened. "Yeah, I'm awake. Are we all ready?" Eric said. "Yeppers." Mike said with a smile on his face. Kelley smiled and shook her head "Ok let's go then." she said. The group went outside and piled in the car, the started their journey to Soda Springs. The clouds swirled and light could be seen behind their billowing mass. The light burned a soft shade of blue. As the clouds continued to spiral the center started to dip towards the Earth. The light moved to the tip of the spiral as it approached the ground. The scarabs were gone, all was quiet. All that remained of Soda Springs was the stone work and power lines. The scarabs devoured everything they could if it was edible, it was gone. A new sound filled the air, the sound of the wind started to pick up along with a deep resonant wailing. The souls of those long dead and recently were being ripped form their resting places and being pulled towards the light in the clouds. Shamus looked up at the light "Soon the gate will be open!!" As the car approached the remains of Soda Springs it came to a sudden stop "What in the world happened to the town?!?" Kelley asked. "Shamus." Eric said yawning. "Oh my gawd." Kelley said in shock and horror as spirits spiralled towards the light. For every spirit that entered the light, it grew larger, brighter, "How are we going to stop this?!?!" Anna asked.
