Why do you believe in your religion? What resons do you have for putting your faith in something that you can neither feel nor see? Something that no one even knows the complete truth about? How can you believe something that can be twisted around and made into something so ugly?

I find it funny how some people can think so logically "I can't see it, therefore its not there" about it, and other people give their whole life up in the name of religion.

Do we all need something mystical and wonderful, just so that we can live more comfortably, so we made up religion?

I beieve in God. How can we be here woithout GOD? Billions of years ago cold gas and space junk came together and made the solar system. Earth magically had water, air, was the exactly correct diance from the sun, had the right tilt on it's axis... I can't see that. How can it be random event? The "Big Bang" everything just came out of nothing, just popped up suddenly. That is why I believe in God. There is no other explanation...

I also feel that no matter what religion that we are, it shows a common link in us. We all need to feel safe, we all need to have a purpose, an explanation. But I hate how religion can morph into something so nasty. In the name of religion one kills another. In the name of religion one HATES another. It's so sad...

So what do you think?

Date: 3/19/2002 8:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 49459    I totally agree with you. I don't think it is important what you have faith in, as long as you have faith. Good post. RlaurenC
Date: 3/19/2002 8:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 40543    you cant just say that life just happend here on earth alone. Life could of tried to start on billions of other planets. But only Earth's had the right conditions at the right time for it to happen.
Date: 3/19/2002 8:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 13546    I actually do not follow any specific religion, and I do not classify myself into any group either. I base myself around what I feel inside my mind, heart, and soul. I don't know if there is something out there, and I'm not sure how we got here. I like the mysterious of the world. I believe in so many things. I like how religion gives people a place for comfort, a place to be happy, and understood for what htey believe. And your right, it is so sad how sometimes conflicts in religious beliefs can cause hate and death .. *shakes head* .. I guess thats how things go ?? *big hugglies* Good Questions!!!!
Date: 3/19/2002 8:40:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 27554    Yeah, there could be billions of other planets with life on them, probably are since space is so vast, but how did THOSE planets get there in the first place? If space was nothing before, how did all this stuff just "appear"? Why such a small percentage of life? Well we only know of one planet that substaines life, but even if there are billions, that is not even close to the total number of planets in the universe...
Date: 3/19/2002 8:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 49459    That is the same way I am Rainbow Angel. RlaurenC
Date: 3/19/2002 8:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 40543    Stuff doesnt just appear ill grant you that but 500 years ago it was a scientific certainty that the world was flat. And obviously we know thats wrong. So whose to say that it is right that matter cant just be created. There are alot of things and principles in the universe that arent understood yet. A small percentage of life could just be due to "random" events. There could very well be life somewhere else and if there is what would that say about God and the bible?
Date: 3/19/2002 8:50:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 27554    I don't know what they'd ay about God and the bible, but I'm sure that the'd have some sort of God too. If god created us, why would he stop there? If we one day found out that matter could be created, then that would make almost EVERY scientific theory wrong. The law of conservation of mass/energy, and GOD knows how many other laws. Matter cannot just appear. That is a fundamental concept, one of the simpliest concepts of modern science. Are you saying that our whole concept of matter is comletely wrong? and if it can just be created, WHO CREATED IT?!? What creates it?
Date: 3/19/2002 8:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 40543    Well the bible mentions nothing about any other life forms on other planets so something would be wrong if we found other intelligent life somewhere. As for the whole matter concept its plausible that matter can just be created not from nothing but from something relatively simple. I do disagree though that there was nothing. There had to be something in place. Whatever that may of been. But if you look at it this way what is God creating matter from?
Date: 3/19/2002 8:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 50048    same as rainbow angel... im more spiritual than in a certain religion
Date: 3/19/2002 8:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 38726    There is definitly something out there,I believe in the right to believe...I believe we all must have faith...no matter what religon...all religon is basically the everlasting fight of good and evil....all teachings point to a better place..regardles of the names we use....or languages we speak,
Date: 3/19/2002 9:00:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 27554    Why would something have to be wrong? It's like that is OUR bible, not a bible for everything that God has done. God didn't even write the bible, man did. There had to be something there... where did it come from? I dunno. WHere did God get the stuff to make it? Weeellll.. he just made all of it. That's how it works. Yes i believe it. How could a random event just create all of this around you? Eveything has a sequence, everythings made out of the same stuff, but put together differently, everything has some intricate design. I cannot make myself believe that it all happened just like that
Date: 3/19/2002 9:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 40543    Of course it all didnt happen at once it took millions and millions and millions of years for the Earth to take form and shape. And its true man wrote it, also just goes to show that man could of been wrong about something when it was written. And it cant just be said that God just made it and thats that. Matter cant be created just out of thin air. But im not trying to say anything about your beliefs. Im glad you're able to believe in that. I cant unfortunately for reasons but maybe i will eventually. I just got to think it out.
Date: 3/19/2002 9:13:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 27554    it says in the bible that time in heaven is not like time on earth. One day canbe one minute and one day can be a million years. I know that matter can't be created out of thin air, but you're missing something. It was God, and put simply, he can do whatever he wants to. We are the one's who can't. i don't really follow the bible word for word like some people, i just take the "big facts" and follow those. I know that man definately had to screw it up somehow lol. I also have alot to think about, I mean I'm only 17. What makes sense now may not make sense later in life, But for now, I believe in this.
Date: 3/19/2002 9:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 39360    I don't think I can explain it logically. Its just something that I feel.
Date: 3/19/2002 11:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 23610    Like Rainbow Angel, I don't have a specific religion and I don't belong to an organized religion....but I do believe in God and I believe that everything in this universe is made up of the same energy force....which is god....and is all little pieces of God. I don't believe in the creation story as it is told in the Bible and don't believe that it was meant to be taken literally but rather more symbolically. I actually believe more in a combining of the evolution theory and creation theory. I do agree that it is terribly sad how religion can cause so many problems and so much hatred in the world....it seems that it can bring out both the best in people and the worst in people.
Date: 3/20/2002 6:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 50674    True, the Bible was written down by men, but it was God that inspired them to write. The Bible is the Word of God. It is the most widely circulated book in all history. No other book has been translated into so many languages. God is the one that preserved it, and for the benefit of all mankind. Abraham Lincoln called the Bible "the best gift God has ever given to man...But for it we could not know right from wrong." Read the Bible, study it! When you do, you will find it does not support the doctrines most religions teach. God does have a channel on this earth! Pray to him to show it to you.
Date: 3/22/2002 11:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 18516    I asked my dad what his proof was that god exsisted and this is the answer I got he picked up his lighter and said 'ya see this' I said 'yeah' he said 'someone created it' I said 'yeah' and he said 'look outside..trees, grass, wildlife, it all has a creator' Ever since he told me that I've kept it in my mind. Jesus btw was in the history book..so people can't say he never exsisted. But anyway..I'm a christian.
Date: 8/5/2005 10:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 7574    It was just how I was brought up.
