Do you know? By Loneangel

Can you see us from your perch in the sky?
Do you know what's going on down here?
Have you looked down, and been proud of me?
Sometimes I almost think I can feel you near.

Are you what he sees, when he looks into space?
When he stares at nothing, are you looking back?
Knowing he'll never know you saddens my heart.
What do I tell him, when he asks where you’re at?

All that I want, is to know that you know,
how much you are loved and missed here.
That I cried, that I lost a part of me with you,
and how I’ll teach him, that you are near.

You will never get to hold him,
to spoil him, or sing him to sleep.
Teach him to pray, or even to dance,
the way you taught me, in the memories I keep.

I’ll try to teach him, to be a good person
someone you’d be proud to call, “Grandson”
I just wish I knew for sure, that you can see.
All I need is a sign, just one.

I promise you this Mom, above all else
I’ll teach him love, and family.
The value of friends and friendship,
And just what you meant to me.

In loving memory of my mother Linda Cossey Goucher, I love you still and always. And miss you each and every day.
