Does anyone else think Jihad may translate more correctly to Armageddon?

Jihad they say means holy war. I doubt it translates directly to holy war. I'm sure there is a word in Arabic that means holy and one for war. Jihad may probably translate more directly to Armageddon. Especially with the talk about using stratigic nuclear weapons if there's such a thing. If we use them you can bet they will too, there goes the word stratigice straight out the open window assuming it is open if not be prepared for shattered glass as well.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines Armageddon as: The scene of a final battle between the forces of good and evil, prophesied to occur at the end of the world.

Jihad: 1. A Muslim holy war or spiritual struggle against infidels. 2. A crusade or struggle: The example the dictionary gives: The war against smoking is turning into a jihad against people who smoke. (That seems to be a weird politically correct type example to me).

Bin Laden may be the first person to utter those words seriously but it seemed imminent to me.

I seriously doubt that the creators of the term planned for it to be used this way. But I suppose it all depends on how people interpret it.

Date: 3/18/2002 1:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 30575    We have learned about jihad in relion classes. And then we learned that jihad is an arabic word and means struggle. It's when you working/fighting for a case. Jihad is positive when you're working for a good case, but negative when you're working for a negative case.

I now wonder if the man who coined the phrase "coined the phrase" ever got credit for it
