Should I go to the doctor or not? ~Silver Tipped Iris~

hey guys, some of you may know but I've been sick for a month now and I'm wondering if I should go back to the doctor.

here's the rundown:

I have a sinus infection. Doctor prescribes one round of meds which do not work at all, in fact I got worse. so second round I got a steroid shot and a new set of meds. when I went back, my sinuses were burning and I had alot of drainage still.

I'll finish those meds by Sunday. My sinuses feel bruised, I'm still draining enough to fill the Lake Michigan, and I've had a new development, I am experiencing moments where breathing is really hard. I have to struggle to get air, kinda like there's a weight on my lungs that's not allowing alot of air in. Should I be worried? Should I go back? or is this just the lingering symptoms of a sinus infection?

Thanks for your help and for all your support, you guys have been wonderful.

Date: 3/16/2002 12:19:00 AM  From Authorid: 39258    i'm uh, thinking that going to the doctor would be a GOOD idea.. perherps a different doctor for a second opinion. tell them all the stuff you've taken and been through and how you feel.
Date: 3/16/2002 12:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 12341    YES! See your Doc or see another one. Do you have asthma? Why the steroids? What antibiotics were used? See an ENT. Ear Nose and Throat spec.
Date: 3/16/2002 12:21:00 AM  From Authorid: 30421    I would go to an ENT then
Date: 3/16/2002 12:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 27046    I would see a Dr it could be the drainage from the sinus infection going into your chest or it could be a side effect from the medication...but I would suggest seeing a ENT doctor...
Date: 3/16/2002 12:26:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29216    the steriod was to help with the congestion. I was given allegra and Tequin on the first round. On this second one, there was the steriod plus Biaxin XL and Panmist DM. I think I will go to a different doctor.
Date: 3/16/2002 12:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 12341    See A specialist, after that much medication you should have had some relief, unless you smoke, if not see the specialist.
Date: 3/16/2002 12:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 30229    Oh honey, yes you need a dr. If all those rounds hasnt helped then it could be something else, or it could be that you need to have that sinus surgery done... it has worked wonders for a few friends of mine... Keep me posted.. cuz I love ya huge hugggggs......
Date: 3/16/2002 12:41:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29216    I don't smoke, and never will. my respiratory system has had enough battering, it doesn't need cancer.
Date: 3/16/2002 12:42:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29216    Gail, I prayed that you would see this post, I know you are the voice of reason, and I knew for sure if you said to go, that I should go. Thank you and thank all of you. I am making an appointment as soon as possible.
Date: 3/16/2002 12:43:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 29216    please pray that I can find a ride, cause I don't have a car, and for these past two visits, I had to walk a mile just to get there and a little more than that back to get the prescriptions. I know all that walking sure doesn't help. Also, please pray that someone calls me tomorrow offering a ride to the grocery store. I need food badly too. I'm such a baby.
Date: 3/16/2002 12:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 12341    My thoughts and prayers are with you!

HECK YEAH YOU SHOULD GO TO THE DOCTORS!!! trust me i just asked my mom {a nurse} and she said that if you don't get it treated REAL QUICK the infection could go into your upper stomach {breasts} and cause you to get cancer. GO TO THE DOCTOR!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

Date: 3/16/2002 3:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 42423    The hard breathing could be plueresy(sp) or one of a number of more serious conditions.....get it checked asap for your own peace of mind.
Date: 3/16/2002 4:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 51106    I've had sinus infection's before. I hate them. I had times where I couldn't breath right either. I think you should go back to the doctor just in case though. -Hansongirl
