Actually a real musician makes music that truly does make you feel a certain way, only because humans evolved to understand and interpret those sounds. For example, a minor chord represents sadness, while (I forget the exact name) something like a minor 9th represents tension or climax. In short, to understand the piece from the composer's perspective you need to interpret the musician the way the composer intended. So actually, yes there is a correct way to interpret music, but that's only from the perspective of one person.  |

*never took music appreciation* Music majors already appreciate music. That is why they are just that. If a music major didn't appreciate music....I think that would be quite the oxymoron. Because it is NOT an easy major, contrary to popular belief. Oh wait. Wrong soapbox. And you're absolutely right. You don't have to like music to understand. I understand what *bites nails* Britney is all about....and, well, I think you know my thoughts on that. It's not a subtle point really.  |

Okay, for the most part they represent sadness. And a minor passage or phrase sounds... Arabic I guess you could say.  |
