Playing God...whats so bad about it? ~pinky and the brain

This post isn't made 2 insult anyone...i'm just asking, what's so bad about playing God? When we're talking about cloning, and the story of how God created Man in his own image, isn't that cloning? (i've posted a similar story like this, but this one's better worded) When we're cloning other people, we're just playing Man! And when we make total AI in computers so they'll have emotions, wouldn't that help a little, like say if there's this person who's real depressed and feels like there's no one else to help, a computer somewhere might recognize their emotions and start trying to cheer them up!

And also, they're likely wouldn't be any AI rebellions because kids would probably have classes on how to treat a computer nicely so it wouldn't do anything bad!

And another thing, on stemcell research. Maybe if Bush didn't slow it down by limiting it, we could've gotten some results this year! That's not playing God though; i believe life doesn't begin until someone's actually had a life. but that's MY opinion and my opinion only.

OK, enough said. Put down your opinions now.

Date: 2/27/2002 7:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 43586    AI is one thing, experimenting on a HUMAN LIFE is not, i mean, this is toying with something that is priceless. Why would we want to clone any ways? If it did work, do you know how much torture the clone would go thru, wondering if they apply to religions or not, not having any individuality. I dont see any reason for cloning humans. killing an unborn baby is taking away a chance for someone to have a life. i believe that life begins when the egg is fertilized, but if you think of it, it is killing them in the future bassically, taking a chance for life, thats a horrible thing to take. I can understand your viewpoint, tho i dont agree

Date: 2/27/2002 7:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 45906    my opinion would be leave the cloneing and stuff alone that can only lead no where lets face it the more and more you clone the same thing guess what its genitics is eventully gona get messed up ( yet i wonder what a fruit fly and a dog would do)( we will leave that to steven kingOK) and as for the stem cells i do belive there is a way to get them from ADULT cells yes its true so i do not belive in embryo stem cell transplants ( same thing with abortion dont belive in that eather though in stem cells the embryo is days old but if it has a heart beat there fore liveing) anyways that is my thoughts come on pick my brain some more that felt good < paramed
Date: 2/27/2002 7:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 45906    and further more i do belive it is like playing god come on createing life for you own manipulation? its like a puppeterr at its best and yes it is playing god
Date: 2/27/2002 9:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 23075    Cloning is playing God...and no one has that right except HIM....however if you ae cloning to try to find a cure for an incurable disease well Ithink that would be another debate.....but I think the cloning shoudl be left alone.....and for all any of you know...you may have alredy been cloned...all they need is one strand of hair from a hairbrush.....
Date: 2/27/2002 11:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 16950    I am SO AGAINST the cloning of humans & animals that there are no words to describe it. I feel it a TOTAL SIN! Oh man & that is putting it lightly! Take good care everyone & Godd Bless! Love & hugs,
Date: 2/27/2002 11:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 16950    How does a cloned person or animal have a soul? Gosh I feel SO BAD for that cloned cat, CC! I am serious! I love that little guy with all my heart but I feel that the way he was brought into the world was not right. I don't feel scientists should create life. To me it's soooo wrong! I can't talk about this anymore because it makes me extremely upset & ill. Take good care & God Bless! Love & hugs,
Date: 2/28/2002 1:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 27678    pinky, do you understand the process of cloning? Do you realize that an embroyo's DNA is removed, sucked out, so to speak, and then you are left with an "empty" embroyo, and then the DNA of the person you wish to clone, is inserted, and allowed to grow using the "shell" of the embroyo. I'm sorry, but I feel that is wrong. It is not right to destroy that DNA, and God is very real, and I don't think that He's too happy with this tampering of His creation. Life begins at conception, and that's truth, also. If you don't believe in God, then I can understand where we would think that scientists are like mini gods, and should have the right to choose who lives, who dies, and who gets to duplicate themselves. Many scientists and biologists are being busted for lying about certain environmental issues, and that alone, convinces me that I don't want my embroyos DNA destroyed, or duplicates of anyone running around. What if the science proves to be flawed, and peeps are destroyed for some Frankensteins ego? Would that be morally correct? Or are morals not important?
Date: 2/28/2002 12:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 27028    this 250% of how i feel! but noone agrees with me on usm. people are too religious and moral abiding that it holds down the possibilities. By holding back our technology we're letting people who need the se technology and die and we would only hold back advancements. I mentioned about "why is it bad to play God, when your its played by man" in another post
Date: 2/28/2002 3:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 49109    cloning animals is ok, humans is not, u think theyed stop at cloning? no. theyed try to create something better. They would. Whos knows what will be born? and then what? eww four arms thats not what i tried to do chahchink BOOM. We human, were not as smart as God. something would go wrong.
