its legal if you already own an original copy. other than that its illegal (even though everyone does it anyway) but the mod chip works by tricking the system into bypassing the search for a serial number or somethin like that burned within the disk. The boot up does the same only the disk loads it and not the mod chip.  |

btw, i have a mod chip, but just dont have it installed yet lol. I wanna get the boot up disk, because you could risk messing the PSX up if you try installing the mod chip yourself. |

You are allowed to make one copy for yourself, it has to be for your private use. That is legal to do.  |
