**Visual Rape** ~*Princess_Chic*~

Video vouyerism, or visual rape. In 1999 a bill was passed to protect all citizens from being secretly video taped within the privacy of their own homes, yet only five states enforce this law, Louisiana, California, Michigan, Mississippi, and Ohio. Before this was made a law it was only considered burglary, and the punishment didn't fit the crime. So if your being "watched" and your not in these states, the law would not enforce it, if you were being watched there really wouldn't be anything you could do to stop it. Do you think this law should be enforced in other states? Would you agree that this would be considered "visual rape?" I say yes to both, it's an invasion of your privacy, you wouldn't want someone looking at your every move, anywhere at anytime.

I saw it a few weeks ago ~~ LOL I think it should be illegal everywhere it's a clear invasion of your privacy....buuuuuuut, I think I honestly think there's loopholes here. *Grins* nail the sob with trespassing. LOL

Date: 2/16/2002 4:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 30229    Well, if the bill was passed to protect ALL citizens... then if something like that happened to me, I would just have to take "measures" to make sure that Alabama, from that day forward, was added to that list of "enforced".. lol
Date: 2/16/2002 4:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 30229    There was a woman on Murray who was taped in every part of her house by her Landlord, it was bizzarre!!! He was convicted and sent to prison... good enough for that sicko huh?
Date: 2/16/2002 4:53:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 48092    Not many people take it seriously because it's not likely something like that would happen to them, I figure thats why only 5 states enforce it and the others don't, the matter may have never come up there and they haven't had to deal with it
Date: 2/16/2002 4:54:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 48092    I suppose so....
Date: 2/16/2002 5:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 36967    I agree, and those who videotape, should be shot.
Date: 2/16/2002 5:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 13974    Anybody know what that lifetime movie was called? And/Or what the law is called?
Date: 2/16/2002 5:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 46242    That movie was a ladies name i cant remember...
Date: 2/16/2002 5:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 13974    Well that doesnt help hehehehe. :P
Date: 2/16/2002 5:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 44990    sometimes i worry because i think ppl might be watching me and would totalyy destroy my future ( iwanna be a singer) by blackmailing me. more states should enforce it.
Date: 2/16/2002 5:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 13974    Are we talking as in breaking into somones home and taping them?
Date: 2/16/2002 7:21:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 48092    It was called "Video Vouyer: The Susan Wilson Story" and yes it's breaking and entering, putting hidden cameras in someone elses house to watch you.
Date: 2/16/2002 7:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 13974    Wierd... that is messed up.
Date: 2/16/2002 9:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 30477    Obviously, that's an invasion of privacy and the laws should be enforced in EVERY state, but in my opinion passing laws and not enforcing them is one of the bigger problems with modern government that I don't want to get into. Calling this "visual rape" is going a little too far though. It's an invasion of privacy, yes, but throwing around the word "rape" as freely as people do these days causes a decriminalization of the word and a kind of "Boy Who Cried Wolf" problem when rape has actually occurred and the victim is being doubted.
Date: 2/17/2002 2:28:00 AM  From Authorid: 30229    Sorry Jeffs Head, I totally disagree with you. The people I saw that were interviewed that had this happen to them ALL (both male and female) that they felt like they had been raped and the Dr.s agreed that it was MENTAL rape which was damaging to people... Visual Rape would be a GOOD thing to call this horrible atrocity against people...
Date: 2/17/2002 5:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    never thought I'd say this, but....glad I'm in Michigan
Date: 2/17/2002 1:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 48092    sorry Jeffs Head, I agree with Gail
Date: 2/17/2002 1:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 48092    lol mercury
Date: 2/17/2002 6:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 31048    I agree, that's gross..I read something in a magazine about a pervert that snuck into his neighbor's house and poked little tiny holes in their ceiling, and then put video cameras in the attic above the holes..so he got video tapes of the whole family going to the bathroom, and..errr, doing private things in their bedrooms, everything. And he never got punished for it!! Sick!
Date: 2/17/2002 8:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 43815    I do agree if they wanted to be a porn star than they would have asked to be if not than what people do in their own bedroom is up to them.
