I was a cook in a popular pizza restaurant many years ago and one night while I was in the back doing some prep work, one of the drivers said, "Hey! Come here!" I had my hands full at the time and I told him that I would be there in a minute. That's when he rushed over and grabbed me by the arm. He had a very serious and intense look in his eyes and he said, "You don't understand! NOW!" As he hurried me out of the building, he explained that a bomb threat had been called in and that we were evacuating. The customers all left and the whole staff stayed out in the parking lot until the police and fire department had searched inside for an explosive device. Fortunately, nothing was found and things were allowed to go back to normal. Some of our local schools have gone through that same sort of thing over the last several months.
I was reminded of this story today as I was reading the news about a bomb threat somewhere and then there was an article about the new warning the FBI has issued. These truly are strange times that we live in. The world would such a happier place if only everyone could be decent and behave in a civilized manner but guess what...it'll never, ever happen!
