Actually, there are two things to consider. 1). You are new to your job (and to your boss); 2). You accepted the job based on a certain amount of pay for the work which you were to perform. Now,...... to answer your question. If your boss is paying you the amount to which you agreed to at the time of hire, then your boss has not wronged you. Just because you have more experiance than the other two ladies does not neccesarily guarantee you more pay. The situation is this. You agreed to work for the amount of pay which you are recieving. Now you want more because you find that others, with less experiance are getting more pay than you. Perhaps this was an oversight by your boss, or perhaps he has other reasons for paying them more (i.e., extra pay due to distance from work, willing to workall shifts or weekends.) Perhaps you are due more pay. The easiest way to express this is to approach your boss with your check stub, or if he pays by check/cash, immediately after recieving your pay, and say, "Mr./Mrs. _________ , I was just wondering about something. I noticed that I was only making {X} amount per hour/week, and I was under the impression that I was suppose to be making {Y} amount per week (add .50 to value of X to get value for Y ). If he/she asks why, your response should be, because I have ____ years of experiance, and I thought that we had agreed to (figure) Y. Your boss will then have to give you a response one way or another. You should be prepared to accept that even after approaching your boss,he still may not be willing to give you a raise. Either way, bear in mind one thing, there are many, many people in America that do not have jobs. Many would be more than happy to do your job for the amount that you are currently making. It is better to get paid .50 less than others, than no to get paid at all. Good Luck ![]() |
