We are still allowed to fly our flag, just not that flag, and I agree with the decision. This is the Olympics, these people have trained for years. This is not about America or the 9-11 tragedy. This is the time for the athletes some of who have trained their entire lives to shine not for America to show it's patriotism... |

Hi El Toro, Im not quite clear on this story. Are You saying that American athletes are forbidden from carrying any US Flag or just the one from the WTC. In any case I think that is a ridiculous decision. Obviously the commitee is trying to prevent the athletes from making a political statement with the recovered WTC flag, but they will still get the message across in some way. I say let them carry the WTC Flag in honour of those who perished in the disaster. Bye for now. Enki |

no, I disagree. Just because the united states is hosting the olympics doesn't give us special treatment. |

I always thought that the Olympics was a extension of patriotism. These athletes compete for self and country. Remember when those two South Africans, one black and one white ran side by side and lifted there flag up in unity, you tell me if that wasnt a political statement? But really who turned it into a political statement but the Olympic Committe itself. |
