Should People without Kids pay Property Taxes....TORO

I guess you could say that this was inspired by Dizzy's taxes post...

Property taxes are how schools obtain money. So should childless property owners pay taxes?

I believe that they should because even though they dont have children they in the end will benefit because they wouldnt want to live in a society surrounded by uneducated people.

Forgive me if I dont tend this post as I have go work and will try to check the post at my lunch hour.

Date: 1/28/2002 5:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 11528    Good Morning Toro. As a single person with no kids and a homeowner I briefly wrestled with this same idea when I bought the house. I recieved my first bill and felt like arguing but I realised that hey I am doing my part to help society along. There are lots of other taxes I dont like paying but school/property tax is for the benefit of the country. Who knows, maybe some day I will find a good women and have a child then I will be glad that my kid can get an education. Bye for now. Enki

I paid them long before I was married with kids.

Date: 1/28/2002 8:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 42940    Absoulutely they should. I'd much rather see my tax money going for something worthwhile like education then some of the other things the government spends our tax money on. *** bad kitty ***
Date: 1/28/2002 8:21:00 AM  From Authorid: 26445    I put up a post about this subject about a month ago.Basically i was talking about how the tax burden should fall on all,not just homeowners.More people would buy homes and i think the schools would make out better. As for single people with no kids paying property taxes, well all the no children homeowners i know don't care about paying to educate our children.**smiles**

Date: 1/28/2002 10:12:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 27360    Actually the tax burden does fall on all not just homeowners. Yes even renters because the cost is passed on by the apartment owners, ect.....
