I would pick up a gun and defend my country, but I wouldnt go fight in another country. But if canada is invaded believe me Tex I would defend her,, unless its the states invading. Something gave us life. and refuse his offer with killing it might be bad. I actually dont really know anymore. the more I think about it the bigger this dilema gets. I wouldnt die for a religion. ya now bigtex, i used to firmly believe that i could die for my country. but i realized i said that for three reasons. as a young boy, you just don't say that you couldn't, out of fear of looking weak you almost have to say yes. two: i came upon the realization that i am not afraid of death after seeing it regularly throughout my life. i always believed that i would be reunited with them in death (though, i'm not suicidal either). and three: i would kill for the protection of those whom i love, for my sisters, my nephew, my friends who have taken in me and made me part of their nuclear family. and as such, i would also lay down my life in a heart beat if it meant their preservation would continue. but i gotta be honest, i would not die for my country. i would go to war, i would join the service and perform to the best of my ability, and i would relinquish my process of thought to do so, and die if need be, that would be the risk. but it would not be for my country. i'll do everything else. i'll vote, pay my taxes, and so on...but f i die for a cause, the flag i rally under is my own. and that is selfish, but i must admit the truth in that. good post. minnow  |

I would not say i would die for a country or a flag I think that is kinda stupid but I would die for anyone. I would give my life to save another no matter what country there from. I dunno i might be wrong but saying you gave your life for a country or killing another for a country seems to be why wars began we should say Im doing this for everyone or I gave my life for the people of the world..... sorry if i went off track... love,  |

oh and.. Probably another better thing to say (my point of view anyway) I saved a person/life of this world not a country, the country doesnt matter its just a name but its the people. Personally Id rather be able to say that than I died for a prime minister or president who wanted revenge. Argue with me if you want too  luv again, |

Hi. very interesting suject you brought up. the majority of oppinions are that most would give thier life for a loved one(s) but not for the country that allows them to have the freedom to post thier oppinions, thier religeous right , the right to privately own most any thing they want.My Oppinion is I would give my life to protect and serve the greatest country in the world the United States of America. I Have served My and your country In a very unpopular war. If asked i woud do it again! Here's something to think about ,if you dont protect the house that gives you shelter and secuity for you family from the elements ( evil goverment that would love to destroy my and your way of life.) I love my country !!!! |

I would! but I think that deep inside I would be dying for my childrens childrens children, just as the slaves died for their future generations freedom I would fight for mine. Did that come out right?My son is in the service and my husband was also. I believe in my country but sadly not my government.  |
