I am truly sorry if I offend anyone for this...But which one is politacally correct? ~*FY*~

I was talking to my uncle awhile ago who is a police officer and we were talking about everything from the streets to peer pressure. Somehow the topic got brought up about whether "Black" or "African-American" is politacally correct. Again, i am sorry if I offend anyone by asking these questions, but I am very curious.

If you are black, which do you prefer to be called? Black, Negro, African American, Colored, or would you rather be not labeled at all and be considered as human as any black or white or pink or purple person? I'm just really confused with this whole thing.

I do think that Everyone and i mean EVERYONE of any race or religion should be treated as equals. I don't see the difference between me and a black person. We both bleed blood right? Next question...If you are white, what do you feel more comfertable saying when you are talking about a black person?

Hehe...I'm not done yet. This is for everyone....Do you feel uncomfertable around someone not of your race? If you were alone walking down a street and someone passed you, bigger than you, and with another color skin, would you feel scared? More comfertable because you aren't alone?

If I think of more questions I will update...Again..I'm sorry if this is a touch subject for some, but I'm just really curious. If I offended you, I apologize. Much love, FY

Date: 1/25/2002 8:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 6528    Black people are black, the same way I'm white, not caucasian-american or european-american. You can hardly say 'african-american' to refer to a black when egypt is in africa, but would you consider an egyptian a black?? no way...
Date: 1/25/2002 8:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 6528    oh, by the way, i've got friends of all races, preferences, walks of life, religions, etc....

Date: 1/25/2002 10:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 36766    if I'm talkin about a person I'll just say black .. and nope I dont feel uncomfortable around a black person either, I feel fine but where I'm from, walkin down a dark alley and seein a black person is scary sometimes
Date: 1/25/2002 10:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 10534    I feel comfortable around people of other races, and I don't know which is politcally correct, sorry! Lol
Date: 1/25/2002 10:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 16916    I am white but i refer to African Americans as "Black" Although there skin really isnt black..but mine really isnt white either. Well anyways If I saw a black person walking down the street and we were the only 2 walking down the street I would be kinda timid only because I dont know if I could trust a stranger but not because they had a different skin color. You said we all SHOULD be treated equal, well its true because we all are equal blue black purple yellow red white whatever!!
Date: 1/25/2002 10:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 27554    Well, I'm not balck or white. I like to be called hispanic. I would get scared if I saw a big guy walking down the street. ANY COLOR, cause that's just creepy. I'm a small girl!! Black is politically correct because blacks aren't africans. Hundreds of years ago their ancestors came from Africa, but they are just as American as anyone else. Black Americans and Africans are totally diifferent, well maybe not totally, but they sure are alot different.
Date: 1/25/2002 10:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 27554    Oh and from expierence, never use any n word or colored!! That's not right!! Unless you're black. I've never understood that...
Date: 1/26/2002 7:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 46515    I'm like bugs I'm hispanic. I don't know what else to call me. I guess a black person is the correct thing. I don't know, because I'm not black. I hate labels they are so dumb if you think about it. LYNDY
Date: 8/11/2002 9:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    I call them african american and if I were one I'd prefer it that way
Date: 11/1/2005 8:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 7574    I say black and white. I'm too lame to be PC.
