I am not saying that what they are doing is right, or even un-constitutional, but if it is in the school rules that these sort of things won't be tolerated then they have to abide by these things, as do you. If you are under a certain age then you fall within the jurisdiction of the school rules and have no way of being outside of these rules if they choose to enforce them

Well see, I think this is what has made this so awful for some of us-they're aren't any rules that prohibit choice of religion or the way you dress. Besides, none of us are Satanists anyway!!!The principal has just came up with these rules in his head and is enforcing them without telling the student body anything..the only people that are being affected are those who were friends with the boy that ran away.  |

This is very upsetting to read. I am gothic and so are some of my friends. They should just automaticly assume that all or any of you are satan worshipers!! This almost makes me cry. The school does have the right to ban black finger nail polish and all black clothing, but still I see your point. I probably can relate to you more than almost every one here. I completely understand, and mourn for you. That is stupid and completely uncalled for. That is like telling someone what kind of religion they should have!! Not just like it but sorta like it. That doesn't make any sense, you can't get in trouble for being in a satanic cult? What about Freedom of Religion, from this story it doesn't seem that they are harming anyone? So why would they be detained? They have the laws figured out so that they can ban black fingernail polish, dyeing your hair, and your clothing, it's not right but it is legal in a court of law. But I see no probable cause for the police to come and search students based on their religion or send them home whether or not they are a certain religion? The only reason they could have to question you know about anyone else missing or anyother sort of crime the satanic cult might be linked to.  |

people always judge what they do not understand ......yes this is un fair and even if u worshiped satan in this country we r supposed to have religious freedom ! ( not that i agree w/ it mind u ) .but anyway this is a major infringement of constitutional rights is wrong for singling people out because of the way they look or dress (dont they realize this is what gets kids to feel as the colombine shooters did??) it doesnt make people accept conformity it makes them go aganist it !!!!!!!!!!!!when i was in high school umm 11 yrs ago .....it was the 80's music scene "headbangers" and some goth but we were riduculed and we got through it !! so will u ! it makes us stronger in the end! HEY and if there is enough of u that are willing to really make a differance "FIGHT IT " !!!!! CALL LOCAL TV STATIONS RADIO STATIONS AND NEWS PAPERS !!!!!! all kids go through a "dark " phase and write things of an occult nature and even i have read the satanic bible out of curiosity ! this is how we learn ! even if its not something you r interested in curiosity makes u explore in all kinds of things building the person you become ! ssooooooooo anyway its bs and if ur angry enough ! make a stand!!!!!!! being in the "bible belt" makes it hard i understand (i'm in the south as well )but this to me is something worth fighting for !!!! good luck ! ~~~~~daniedarlin  |

Its not fair and its not right but be careful if you bump into someone who really knows and can argue their case they might point out that the Constitution doesn't "exactly" give rights teens and those who can't vote.
