LOL my step dad got kicked out of high school for having his hair too long. People need to get with the times and just relax over the hair deal. I mean it isn't hurting anyone and it's not distracting anyone from learning. If anything it is teaching kids to be an individual and not be afraid to be themselves.  |

wow..this is insane...dont we have a law about freedom of expression?!?! i know in the South they are much more rigid about that sort of thing..up here in the NorthWest, nobody cares if you dye your hair...i'm sorry you have to deal with this...but hey, as the trite saying goes "life isn't fair"...heh...doesn't that just piss you off when people say that? last year i dyed my hair and they tried to kick me out i fought so bad and now they wont even talk to me for what i do to my hair you gotta stand up to them thats what they are afraid of once student stand up and take a stand they will lay off but it's gotta be ajoint efort if u understand what i'm saying |

I would contact a lawyer and see what my legal rights where. That is such bs! My sister was having a really hard time in school and she got put in alternitive school. The one here focus's on teaching and not on all the nit picking, like dress codes and sliping with a cuss word or smoking on grounds. With all the nagging gone she enjoys school and makes straight A's now. If they would stop nit picking and using any little excuse they can Not to do their jobs the drop out rate in schools may not be so high!  |

Emily,i dunno if you remember this,but a few years ago (in arizona,it was in the news)and this 1 guy died his hair blue & they school MADE him shave it & then his whole faimly came the next day with their hair died blue.just kinda reminded me of this,stupid schools. |

ok, that is probably the stupidest thing i have ever heard!!when i wasin high school, i took cosmotology and was the classroom guiny pig (sp) i had my hair a different color every week. isn't there any way her parents can fight this? when i went to high school, if they kicked kids out of my school for dying their hair too much, half of my school would have been gone. people should have the right to do anything they want to their hair as long as her parents say it is alright. as long as it doesn't interfere with her learning or the learning of others...it should be of no concern to the teachers.  |

my mom almost got kicked out of school for cutting her hair short... this was back in the 50's at a Catholic high school. The nuns were ticked off at her and asked her "What does your mother have to say about this?" mom replied, "Why don't you ask her...she's the one that cut it!" it shut up the nuns and mom got to stay... but they were none too pleased when all the girls started showing up with D.A.s (heehee) This IS really stupid...  |

lol when i graduated they refused to put one of my classmate's pictures in the yearbook because he had a six inch mohawk dyed red, and a leather jacket complete with studs and stickers. lol, people protested but it didn't do any good. schools are the most conformist institutions around.  |

Well, I think that pretty soon, schools won't get away with such behavior. If it is a type of dress code, though, and they warned her not to do it anymore (it might have been distracting), but she did it anyway, they might have been justified... Maybe they should have helped her through it, instead of treating her like an outcast, and giving her the ol' kick in the arse just for being different. Good luck to her.   |

Yes that is stupid. I went to high school with a guy that had green hair one day and pink the next!!! If your cousin gets good grades then I don't see the problem. That's pretty stupid, but sometimes school administrators and such do stupid stuff. I agree with you on what the parents say is ok, should go but it seems the "system" is taking a lot of control over the parents children. I don't like it but what can we do? I think it is stupid, and that the school system should think about the future they are leading us into. Kicking someone out of school who has no prior history of problems over something as idiotic as hair color....all I can say is that it is stupid.  |
