Date: 12/21/2001 10:22:00 PM From Authorid: 20750 oh Becky!!! I'm sorry your feeling this!!!! Sometimes it takes along time to get over something!!! call it an end to something & a begining of something new!!! like a door shut yet a new one opens!!! |
Date: 12/21/2001 10:35:00 PM From Authorid: 27046 I don't think that there is anyway you are going to make it stop. Flashbacks occur just as you described and it could be the littliest of things that make it all come back....I bought a used neon by the way 4,295 miles in it when I bought it and the car runs like a Gem...had it for three years and not a problem with it! |
Date: 12/21/2001 10:38:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845 I was looking at neons az, but dad and my uncle won't hear of me having one plus with me transferring next semester it'll be spring break at the earliest before I get any car.... |
Date: 12/21/2001 10:41:00 PM From Authorid: 27046 Why won't they hear of it? |
Date: 12/21/2001 10:42:00 PM From Authorid: 46486 Becky, I know exactly how you feel! I was out with my friend (her secondd ay having her license) and we both got into a car accident. Even though I was not driving, either way it's scary! I don't know how I got over my flashbacks. I tried everything with all my might to forget about it. Whatever you can do, like hang out with a friend or something, go somewhere, listen to music..whatever what makes you forget things and clears your mind helps a lot. I didn't wanna go on the bus the day after cuz of the accident! I know how you feel, and I'm sorry you had to go through that. Fallinangel |
Date: 12/21/2001 10:44:00 PM From Authorid: 46486 Oh yeah, even reading your post made me remember of the accident I was in! If I wasn't wearing my seatbelt, I wouldn't be here typing.... |
Date: 12/21/2001 10:46:00 PM From Authorid: 34078 You're one of the nicest funniest people on here. (bad things happen to good people) But when you hear news from me you know it's not good. When it comes to heartache and automobile accidents I'm a doomsayer. I was in an auto accident and it makes a person see how dangerous driving really is. You must convince yourself it is the lesser of two evils. ALWAYS LOOK BOTH WAYS EVEN IF THE LIGHT IS GREEN!!! Do that and you'll survive. Also don't tailgate even if people look at you like you're too good. Don't drive next to people if you can help it and don't let them drive next to you. Try not to let someone tailgate you. In-short; drive defensively. I wish you luck! And if you ever need advice ask me I've been driving professionally 20 years, from del. vans to limos to a bus to semi truck, next; tanker truck (the most dangerous job in America). Don't worry I watch out for you. |
Date: 12/21/2001 10:47:00 PM From Authorid: 46068 that can be rough and Im sorry that you are having problems with it... If its possible you have to deal with it ie. drive until you overcome the circumstances, if its too extreeme the only other way I know of is hypnosis but since it hasnt been that long I would simply try to deal... take care and good luck, Eagleeye |

Yo Becky, Oh I can relate. I had quite a narly car accident almost 3 years ago. REAL lucky to be alive...extremely lucky to have walked away with little more than whip-lash and a few bruises and scratches. Basically I was going too fast in the wet, lost control on a tight corner and spun the car clean across the road, into a ditch and then the car just flipped and rolled again and again and again...over and over...till my entire car was crushed and crumpled. I still hear the sound of it sometimes. Car crashs are a VERY traumatic experience...and it just takes time. I know I am still not over it, I still freak out a little bit and have become overly cautious while driving in the rain. Its gotten better...but yeah, thats all I can say...time is the best healer...and reminding yourself that fear IS good - for you are alive to feel it Peace, |
Date: 12/22/2001 8:34:00 AM From Authorid: 21435 Hiya Becky. I guess that we've all been there. You're right, it hasn't been that long ago. There have been times, when I needed to sleep so badly but couldn't, cause something just kept going over and over and over in my head. Bummer, no doubt. This may sound weird..(Usually, anything coming from me does...sound weird, I mean) BUT...When something like that starts flashing back on me, I do something like; standing on my head, 50 push-ups, eat a really bitter orange. Ya know, something that I sorta "hate." Seems like it helps. I guess that my psyche "cringes" and after a while, the offensive thought is too scared to come around anymore. Oh well, for what it's worth...lol..Good luck to you. Seasons Greetings, to..Write on... |
Date: 12/22/2001 10:36:00 AM From Authorid: 34078 I like that Kronk, reverse psychology as it were. |
Date: 12/22/2001 10:51:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845 LOL az if you have one I don't know if I really wanna repeat what everyone has told me. my uncle is one of the muckimucks up at autonation and I guess he's done alot of work on them ect......their basically 'death traps' as everyones told me..... |
Date: 12/22/2001 10:53:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845 Kronk that might actually work I'll have to try it. all i gotta say is thank god julie decided to wake me up thismorning with a phone call I was in the middle of an accident dream......*Sigh* oddly enough I was driving a cranberry colored caravan or some sort of van....don't know anyone with that type of car. lol |
Date: 12/22/2001 10:58:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845 Perk I know I've been through the drivers ed. this was just one of those freak things we were both sorta at fault but since I was from behind I was the one who got the blame. see I *had* horrible blind spots in my lil pulsar so I *would have* to REALLY check my blind spot so I wouldn't hit someone in the side or anything. well I went to check my blind spot while I was doing that the woman in front of me slammed on her breaks, by the time I turned forward again and hit my breaks it slowed me down but I still hit her there was construction going on so I'm sure the small amount of gravel on the road didn't help.......and I know for a FACT when I went to check my blind spot there was ATLEAST three car lengths between us.....true I should have been further back but I wasn't tailgating. they asked if I was on the scene and I told them I'll admit to being at fault but I will NEVER admit to tailgating never, I DO NOT do that......even the woman agreed I wasn't..... |
Date: 12/22/2001 1:05:00 PM From Authorid: 34078 I know how you feel. It can happen to anyone, given the wrong set of circumstances. There's people who go overboard. For example; trucking companies during orientation say there no such thing as an accident, all accidents are preventable. I say tell that to the guy who broadsides a vehicle that ran a redlight or a deer causing one, there's any number of reasons. It's easy for a police officer who has a gun, a badge and police car and gets respect to not understand what it's like for us. While accidents are bad, some of the biggest problems can come from dealing with the law afterwards. In Mexico both parties flee the scene if they can and take care of their own vehicles. Here's a little bit different. Let's say you hit a Mercedes, Jag or Rolls. Then they expect you to pay for an expensive car that you didn't buy! No justice, no peace. |

The best way to make it stop, is to get back behind the wheel. I know that sounds crazy. But you HAVE to show yourself that it is over. That there is nothign wrong with your driving, and that you are safe. Otherwise, the events will keep replaying themselves. (I've been there myself.) |
Date: 12/22/2001 5:00:00 PM From Authorid: 1443 Becky, it takes time, eventually it will deminish, I had my accident 3 years ago when someone hit me from behind, and if I see someone coming kind of fast behind me I freak, I almost hit the gas. But it will fade. It is too soon. Have a great Christmas... |
Date: 12/22/2001 6:16:00 PM From Authorid: 38849 Just don't think about it. you just do other things and eventually they go away. -- |
