Popov had first shot at it but couldn't hang on. The eventual owner of the ball was proven not to be the one who hit Popov. If he wants to sue someone he should find the guy who knocked him down in the first place. Even then it's eveyone for themselves in these situations. But of course you can always find a lawyer willing to sue someone.  |

Anyone knows in the game of baseball it's who has control of the ball once the excitement is over that is the rightful owner of catching the ball....so Patrick Haysashi is the owner.....but heck really I think Barry Bonds should be given the ball.....jmo there.....  |

The ball belongs to Hayahi ! I had a homerun ball (for one second ) , hit by a Texas Ranger at the old Arlington Stadium . Even though i had the ball first completely inside my hand , and old fellow (60 years old ) used two hands and planted his feet hard , and yanked the ball out of my hand . He won it fare and square ! Well....let's say the batter hits a pop fly....only it bounces out of the guys glove when he attempts to catch it. Is it considered an out? No way....the guy lost the ball....it's no good. So, it's the same situation here....the guy lost the ball....it was a bad catch and someone else got it. Besides....isn't possession nine tenths of the law? LOL.  |

From what I've seen of this, and I don't watch much baseball, I would have to say it was the guy's who caught it and was able to keep it. I just thought it was part of it for several people to get their hands on it and lose it anyway...luck of the draw. It really gets on my nerves how people will sue over anything now. Most people would have been dissapointed, but kept it in perspective.  |

Had this been an "ordinary" baseball, hit foul or as a homerun, this issue would'nt have come up. Most likely when this goes to court, I would imagine the outcome to be "Possesion is 9/10ths the law". But who knows? The judge may decide the way King Solomon did in biblical times, threaten to cut the ball in half, and give each their share.  |
