I want an autherntic tree for Christmas....its tradition, and i hold some traditions closely...having a fake tree is like having a plastic eye...or going to McDonalds for Thanksgiving, even though you are perfectly capable of cooking thanksgiving dinner, or wearing a Loud hawaiian shirt to a funeral...or flushing the toilet with your nose...i think a good old real live tree will do finely OLunar ShogunO  |

I was getting ready to ask what kind of sick person woudl post this...LOL NO we don't do real trees anymore since I've been around 19yrs....we've only done a real tree maybe three times....we got a new artifical tree in 1999 right after christmas for dirt cheap. nope we've got a male dog, there's NO WAY we can have a real tree in the house, it's hard enough to keep him away from the fake one....YES he has...uh...yeah once before.....LOL!  |

LMAO, I love the title..LMAO. I was saw the title and thought, OMG what's wrong with this person??? LOL. Anyways, yeah we always get artificial trees.. I don't think it's very environment-friendly to cut down a big tree, stand it up in your house for a couple weeks, then dump it somewhere to rot. It's just sick! Good post   |

Mercury,ive heard of tree farms! Surprised? Lets use that room to plant more POTATOES! Plastic can be recycled right? And that tree in your living room,is not fire repelant,like some of the new artificial trees,your live tree is also,a fire hazard! Thanks for the reply. |

ummmmm....Im using a REAL tree...I go to tree farms...that is what they are there for...and they are replaced every year...If someone would buy me an artificial Christmas tree I would happily use it, since I cant afford the outrageous prices as well as get 4 children ready for Christmas..so I guess until then..the REAL DEAL is it!! i just want to know what a dead corpse is lol. every time we have cut down a tree, WE have planted another one. this year we have a fake tree though i kinda miss the real one. and i will miss all of the family getting together to do something good. yea, i think next year we will have a real one again  |

LOL Good atteniong grabber! And LOL Becky, we have a male dog in the house also; but strange enough he has never "marked his territory" on it (just every where else). We have always gotten a real tree, except the one time we put an artificial one in our yard, I don't know what my mom was thinking with that one. I guess it's tradition, and we even used to cut our own trees we had growing on our land, but last year all of them were too big or to small. Plus we're definatly not enviromentalist tree huggers. Still we are a lot less wastefull than some of the hypocrite Green Party, I bet we have planted more trees in our yard than most of those people.  |

Also the kind of trees we are talking about here aren't irreplacable rain forrests, they are trees grown on special Christmas tree farms. The only kind of artificial tree I would buy is one of those alluminum ones from the 60's, but that's just because they look really cool. |

And another thing...vegetarianism IS WRONG!!! You yourself said it...trees are alive...just like vegetables...they are living beings...just like animals. You can hurt a plant just like you can hurt an animal...sure the plant doesn't cry out in pain...but it registers it none the less. So ask yourself...which is more wrong here...preying on something that has the ability to at least move around or fight back like a cow or a sheep...or preying on innocent little carrots and potatoes that can only just sit there as the nasty farmer comes along and rips them from their earth mother! Eat meat...its less wrong...at least animals have a chance...those poor defenseless vegetables are just sitting ducks, or sitting cabbages in this case. Peace, |

Pros of using a -Real tree: tradition, smells nice. -Fake tree: safer, reusable. Cons of using a -Real tree: fewer air filters. -Fake tree: strip the land, build the factory, release whatever by-products into the atmosphere, buy the boxes, burn fuel in shipment to stores... I'd say it's a draw..  |

Where I live there are too many Evergreen trees. anyways, if you wanted an alive christmas tree and not want it to be a "dying corpse" just decorate a tree in your front yard or something. Then put the presents somewhere else.  |

Most trees are harvested every 3-4 years, some longer in the meanwhile they are helping the environment. Artificial trees create pollution when they are manufactured and when they are dumped.
