well..you don't debate your point. you start with a theory and end with light speed. which are two in the same but you did not make that clear in your arguement. It it true that you do have to surpass the speed of light to make "time" slow down. that in it self is time travel. yet on the other hand, mathamaticly we can prove than an elephant can hang from a side of a cliff tied to a daisy by the tail and not fall off, yet physically it can't be done. There is an interresting story about a man who made a time machine, useing the static of balloons in a chamber filled with just balloons. the interresting thing is that his cat went into the chamber and disapeared for twp weeks, yet after those two weeks, the cat re appeared again this time wearing an egyptian collar around it's neck. what happened to the cat? where did it go and why was it wearing the collar it was wearing? could it have been a hoax? yes. could the cat really have gone back in time? perhaps. no one really knows. but until we as human being figure out how to keep our bodies from becoming mush at that speed...it isn't posssible. |

I wouldn't really count this as "time travel", but rather as a side effect of high speed travel. I would consider time travel to include the means to return to your starting point, or even go back further. What you say here is true, and is proven by relativity and experimentation .... when you move fast, you go into the future relative to those of us not moving as fast. But another way to put it: I would define time travel as being able to exchange information with a time in the past (relative to you). I personally believe it is possible to do this, but I think it would be a combined effort by both mind and machine, since information is recieved only by perception, which intimately involves conscience. So to intentially "time travel", we would have to first quantify thoughts and conscience, especially in regards to how they're both "stuck" within us physically, and then learn how to manipulate it so as to alter the perception source. - Gecko |
