I'm confused..... >Kitsune Cuteness<

OK, I was watching the news, and in the bottom scrolly thing, it said that peole were trying to ban the new Harry Potter movie because it promotes Peganism. YET on the exact same channel, at the exact same time, they had some totally christian woman telling everyone how god's going tosave us and how god will make everything all better.

Now, how come they're allowed to promote Chritianity so freely, but a movie that MIGHT promote Peganism is attempting to be banned? How many christian moves are there out there? And people are whinning about some little kids movie (which, by the way, I heard was supposed to be really good.)

I am confused. Any thoughts?

Date: 11/13/2001 9:11:00 AM  From Authorid: 10754    Actually, I wish they'd ban it because I'm tired of hearing about the stupid thing......it's like Titanic all over again.

Date: 11/13/2001 9:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 10657    I don't think it will be banned this follows along the lines of them not wanting to publish the books either!! But, throughout history many books and probably some movies have been banned for many reasons that make no sense at all!! I think it is more people are afraid of what they may found out about themselves than anything. And, I personally don't feel that harry potter promotes Paganism in the least but, that is my opinion!!
Date: 11/13/2001 10:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 36901    Needless to say, everyone sees things differently. I have seen the movie and I can understand why some people say it promotes paganism (even though I don't agree). It's all in the interpretation. I don't think that gives anyone the right to ban it. If they don't like it, they just shouldn't watch it. Why ruin it for everyone else? Having your own opinion is your right, but forcing it on others isn't. You bring up a good point and you're right, it is somewhat confusing.
Date: 11/13/2001 11:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 42940    I bet they said something similar when "The Wizard of Oz" came out. Each parent should decide if they want to let their children see the movie or not. *** bad kitty ***
Date: 11/13/2001 11:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 27270    Yep, if you don't want your kids to see it, don't take them. Just as you would do with ANY movie. Geez, they want to ban it? Actually, that doesn't really surprise me.
Date: 11/13/2001 12:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 35273    I guess that most people don't feel that Paganism is a legitimate belief system. Whether it does or doesn't promote it, I think there are better things to worry about personally!~Chandira
Date: 11/14/2001 1:54:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 35054    Yeah,(and thank you all who agree with me) but what I meant was WHY is it ok to promote Christianity, and not other's beliefs? That's what was confusing me. Not the whole Harry potter thing.
