Hi Penguin..Maybe if you could calmly go to your Dad and ask him if he would mind sitting down with pen and paper and show you why he thinks his way is the best way,then just maybe he will then understand where you are coming from..I think sometimes Dad's do not want to admit that they could be wrong and their child could possibly be right..It may take a ittle psychology to bring him around.If you do this,maybe you should let him think it was his idea..Males are like that you know.. Just ask my hubby.   |

...anyone that has owned an older car and has invested large sums of cash on repairs can tell you that vehicles can get to like thius kind of treatment and will constantly fall apart in order to get more of the same. Older cars get tired, especially if they've been driven hard, have lots of miles under their belt or have been poorly maintained. Most cars are designed to implode after a certain number of years. Been there, done that, done it again and again!  |

Cars become money pits and when it becomes more costly to keep repairing it than the car is worth then it's definately time to look into a more reliable car *Notice how I didn't necessarily say 'new'* I think if your father doesn't want you to get a newer car there is a reason for it, I noticed by your profile your 20...it's your money do what you feel is best with it. I think your dad is acting this way because it's just one more thing he can hold over your head and keep you under his thumb.....  |

Thanks Becky, unforunately, my dad is in control of my money until I turn 21, I've tried getting my money into someone else's name and I even seeked help from lawyers, but I've learned to deal with the fact that I'm going to have to wait until I'm 21 to get that money in my name becaus emy dad isn't going to let anyone else control it. |
