Gantrill's Travels....Part 1....by StormTracker5

A heavy mist begins to move in; A mist as thick as pea soup
In the distance we hear the footsteps of a small group
Not to sure what we'll find; we move in with the utmost care
We find a haggard bunch with thick beards and rather long hair

What could it be that would bring them from home
Holes in their clothing and each thin as a bone
You could see the fatigue in each of their eyes
As they continued on beneath cloud filling skies

Each step that they took seemed to come slower than the last
A voice calls out; "We shall rest at the next pass"
A great sigh of relief escaped many of the men
As they took in Gantrill's words, their leader and friend

At the next pass where dampened dead leaves littered the ground
The men came to rest where there was not one sound
The tops of the trees were unseen from a mist so thick
To their clothing their skin did stick

"What is this journey that has taken us so far from home
Out in this mist that is soaking us to the bone"
That question rang in Gantrill's ears
"If it's an answer you desire, then come near"

Weary legs lifted the group to their tired and blistered feet
Each approaching Gantrill who was leaning upon a tree
"We must enter Thracken Forest where a treasure rests within"
At the sound of that name a chill went through many of the men

Thracken Forest where the strangest of creatures do reside
Monsters of all sorts that would make men run and hide
Where many men have traveled deep within
Only never to be heard from again...
