I took my kids to the San Diego Zoo today. We have membership, so normally we just show our member cards and pass right through. There has never been a long wait at all.
Today there was two extremely long lines. They had two security guards, wearing plastic gloves, emptying purses, diaper bags, back packs....whatever you had and searching them. Then after they emptied them out, they took their flashlight and looked inside of the bags.
I didn't mind waiting in line or waiting for them to search my things. It was a nice piece of mind that everyones bags were searched.
I'm assuming it's like this at a lot of places now.
