I agree with you! One of our local station did a fund raiser for the victims, but another one started a charity in the name of one of their DJ's. The station I listen to was furious. Our station did blood drives and donated their weekly salaries to charity. Some of them worked for the first 4 days STRAIGHT! We drove doen the street yesterday and saw street vendors selling t-shirts...we stopped to ask who they were selling them for...but they were doing it for a nearby silkscreening place, not for charity. I've seen commercials for companies selling t-shirts, caps and other novelties just to make a buck...it makes me ill. It just goes to show that some people wll take advantage of anything in order to make a dollar...meanwhile there are people starving because they've lost their jobs and others mourning their families...it is truely a tragedy.... |

Partially I agree, but they are just being americans. We are a country build on freedom, capitalism, and free enterprise. |

Yeah, these guys down the street from my company dp screen printing. The day it all happened, they were out trying to sell shirts and other things. They own a crooked business, selling drugs' to kids out the back door of their business. I know for a fact they were just out to make a quick buck. When they came down to us, we asked them who the profits were going to, and they all three said something different, two times, untill they agreed on one thing. I know there are a lot of people doing this. Wal- Mart has kept the same prices on their flags, just like it was any other day. So I don't think they are just trying to make a quick buck. These people will pay dearly one day! Have a nice day! |

Like Old Navy, I went in that store 1 day after the WTC tragedy. They were selling t-shirts with flags on them, but none of it was going towards charities. That's terrible for Walmart to do that, and K-mart too. They just moved all of their red white and blue items to the front of the store, plus they removed guns from their shelves. So I'm not going there. And car dealerships, saying they are getting the economy going by offering 0 down and not paying extra money a month, but those trucks are so expensive hardly anyone but really rich people buy them any ways. Then at the end of the commercial they say "Are you proud to be an American?" Well not with those commercials I'm not. |

I agree with what most everyone here said. It really isn't right to use this as an opportunity to make a profit. One of the worst things I've seen is that commercial/infomercial selling a flag/patriotism package. How low is that - marketing specifically toward people's reactions to all of this. It's fine if its purpose is to financially assist in the cleanup, etc., but not simply for private profit. - Gecko |

I know that this country is based on capitalism and free-enterprise, but I think that there should be a limit as to how much "free-enterprising" can go on. I was flipping through a magazine yesterday, and I saw a picture of New York. Man, are there too many billboards up there. What's the deal? |
