I think Life is Supposed to be Hard

When my Husband and I decided we weren't going to have children, we got a puppy instead. In our foolish idealism we thought it would be easy so to create an enviroment of good things and lots of love. Should be easy to do for a dog? You would think so. Soon after he turned six months old he came done with epilepsy. We had a hard time controlling his seizures with medication. If it hadn't been for those darn seizures, he would have had a perfect life. Now I'm wondering if anything is capable of having a perfect life. I seems as if we are put here to struggle in one way or another, regardless of our circumstances. What do you think?

Date: 9/29/2001 3:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 15394    I believe it is all in perspective... what you may view as a chore, another may see as an opportunity to nurture a sick being... and therefore it is a blessing... Just a thought ... thanks for the post!!
Date: 9/29/2001 3:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 21847    I don't believe any human alive could actually handle a perfect life. If your life was perfect, after a while it would seem... well, dull. Anyways, if life wasn't hard we wouldn't learn anything, would we?
Date: 9/29/2001 4:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 9130    Good Post Why should life be easy? Unless you are rich of course...
Date: 9/29/2001 4:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 43243    I know what you are going through, I had a loving cat who was a diabetic, he died in a house fire, but anyway for 5 years he had diabeties, he was 15 yrs old, it's all about love, if you love your dog than make sure your dog is going to be okay, this is life, it deals us cards that we dont expect, but be strong and love that dog, and make sure it's well taken care of with the vet visits.
I know it's hard, but dont lose faith.

Date: 9/30/2001 6:33:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 35185    I don't even think life is easy for the rich. Have you ever heard the expression poor little rich girl/boy. People just expect their lives to be easier, because of the money. I think they have the same questions and insecurities as the rest of us. Thanks Chained, but my little guy died on Friday. All of my friends always told me he got better care than most children. I always took some pride in that. I guess I'm just venting since his death.

Date: 9/30/2001 4:25:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 35185    Fallin Star, I guess it has to do with one's perspective. I consider animals to be no less important of a life form than humans. We all have the same emotions, we're just able to express them verbally.
Date: 10/1/2001 3:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 18169    well, i have three beliefs on the bad things that happen in life. 1.) when a family goes through a bad thing, it can pull it apart, but it can also pull it together like never before. which one you get all depends on you. 2.)if nothing else a bad thing can make you stronger. 3.) if it wasn't for the bad times, how would we know how wonderful the good times are?
Date: 10/6/2001 12:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 12581    Life is hard, EXTREMELY hard, more so for some than others, I have had one of those really tough life's and this is what I feel... Pain, grief and suffering is a fact of life, we can't change it and at times no matter how hard we try to understand why terrible things happen, we can't. So what do I do? I accept the pain, let it run it's course, face it head on and try to understand the situations significance. What I've found is that through every trial and tribulation, there are countless lessons to be learned, it just all depends on how you look at it. If you survive through a painful experience either you deteriorate some or you grow and stregnthen. Things happen for a reason sometimes, for all the pain that puppy went through, he also had your love and comfort. And it was terrible on you to have to watch it, but it has made you think deeper about life and that thinking opens new doors of understanding. I have had one of those lives that is has been just unbelievibly painful, through all my pain, I have never stopped seeing the beauty in the world and everytime the darkness of depression decends upon me, I never stop knowing that in time, I will heal and learn so much from every experience, see new things I hadn't seen before and understand the world around me just a little better. Thanks so much for sharing this, sorry so long! Take care!
