River Flats....It Begins....by StormTracker5

The steed galloped into the center of town
Over its side lay a body with hair of brown
The locals ran up to see what they could do
As they lowered the stranger 'neath a sky of blue

"He's gut shot, there's no way he'll survive"
Someone checked for a pulse, "This man's alive"
"Go get the Doc, tell 'em he better come quick
We've got us a stranger and he's pretty darn sick"

Off runs a boy with his hat in his hand
Kicking up a trail of dust as he ran
Not looking back he ran as fast as he could
Reaching Doc's place, he knocked on the door made of wood

"What is it boy, what can the matter be?"
"There's a man been shot, hurry and come with me"
Doc grabbed his top hat and managed to get his bag
As he felt the urgent tugging of this little lad

They ran as fast as they could to the center of town
Seeing the scene before him, Doc's face began to frown
There was blood on the stranger's hands, he had a blood soaked shirt
Not sure if he could help him, Doc dropped to his knees in the dirt

He ripped open the stranger's shirt to see what damage had been done
As the shadows grew longer with the slowly setting sun
"Get this man to my office just as quickly as you can
I am going to do my best, I think I can save this man"....
