...Mr. Hekler's Neighborhood.

...I think my wife and kids are out to get me!

After my usual invigoratingly miserable day at work, I come home and get a few minutes of peace before Grandma drops the kids off.

My wife has gone to work about an hour ago.

Ms. Hekler calls home and asks if the kids are back yet. I say no. I ask what happened to the Tiffany-style lamp after noticing that it lies in pieces. After the initial "huh?", I am told that my youngest boy had taken it out earlier whilst circumnavigating the end table.

I am calm.

Boys are still not back home with Grandma.

I walk down the hall.

For some reason, the carpet just outside of the washroom door appears to be darker than the surrounding carpet. It is wet.

I am at a loss for words! How could the toilet ever have overflowed when the plunger was right nearby in one of the (random) closets where my dear one likes to keep it out of view.

I see Grandma's car roll up and my little monsters jump out.

Kids come in, Grandma goes home.

Time for Jeopardy!

Attempt to turn the T.V. on.

Nothing.

I check the plug...everything looks okay.

Buttons on front panel of set are really "mushy" feeling.

On closer inspection, I notice that the outer shell of the T.V. is all cracked and bent out of shape.

I call my wife at work. She seems to have no knowledge of how this happened. After a moment or two, she remembers that she did knock the 27" screen over and picked it up again, but she didn't notice any damage.

This is one of those days when you really feel like you're finally getting paid back for being the little menace I was as a kid.
